  1. Thought I'd open a new thread for the 2019 European Games, now officially set to be held in the capital of Belarus, Minsk. Personally, I look forward to seeing preparations as they only have 2 years after the host city was swapped around numerous times (The Netherlands, Kazan/Sochi and now Minsk). The VP of the Belorussian NOC did say they only plan to spend $40 million on the games and that the event will be heavily dependent on existing infrastructure (Which, I think is great). They're also planning on holding only 10-15 sports opposed to Baku's 20. I did mention that the games will rely on existing facilities however they do intend to build a facility for rhythmic gymnastics (fingers crossed artistic will be held during these games too) that will likely be completed in 2018 and are renovating the Dinamo Stadium so that it is able to host the track & field events - This is apparently the approved design - There were a whole lot of other designs but they opted to go for that one. There was a really nice glass roofed one that looked very classy and elegant and way better than the one above, I'll try and find a pic. No info on the logo, slogan or the proposed dates, kinda worrying if you ask me, they've only got 2 years now...

  3. Who doesn’t love a good mascot in international sports? They can unite a sports community, bring luck, and they can entertain the spectators at international events. Do you want to be part of history? Then get designing! Badminton Europe is running a design competition for an official mascot of European badminton - the first of its kind - and all fans are invited to submit their ideas. The task is to design a stand-alone mascot that represents BEC and European badminton visually. No BEC logo or type should be used in the mascot design as we will add the official BEC logo branding afterwards. The mascot‘s name will be added after the competition in another small contest. The designer of the winning mascot design contest will receive 800 Euros & weekend tickets for the 2016 European Championships in France including hotel from Friday to Sunday (Single Room). The winning design will also be featured online at www.badmintoneurope.com and in the BEC online magazine HOW TO ENTER THE COMPETITION? Two Easy Steps To Submit Your Design: 1. Create the mascot in a vector-based program, preferably Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, and convert it to a JPG or PDF for submission. Please read the creative brief and rules (see below; please download the PDF document), and note that the submission deadline for entries is 11 January 2016. You may submit more than one entry. 2. Please submit the mascot design via eMail to brian.agerbak@badmintoneurope.com. Submission of mascot designs must be JPG or PDF only, resolution 72 dpi, with picture dimensions (at least) 400 x 400 pixels and a file size no bigger than 2 MB. The emailed file is for presentation only. The final mascot design may require minor modifications; please allow us 1–2 weeks for this process. The winner will be asked to provide a vector version of the mascot (open file). 5. These are the European Stadiums, that I think deserve the UEFA 5 Star Rating. Some that I include, are already 5 Stars by UEFA, some were left out by UEFA. Emirates Stadium, London, England (60,361 Seats). Olympic Stadium, London, England (80,000 Seats (56,000 Seats)). Nou Camp, Barcelona, Spain (100,000 Seats (Will be 106,000 Seats)). Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid, Spain (85,000 Seats (Will be 95,000 Seats)). Stadium La Peineta, Madrid, Spain (73,000 Seats). San Mames Stadium, Bilbao, Spain (54,000 Seats). Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany (71,000 Seats). Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund, Germany (66,000 Seats, when All-Seater). Veltins Arena, Gelsenkirchen, Germany (62,000 Seats). Mercedes-Benz Arena, Stuttgart, Germany (61,000 Seats). Imtech Arena, Hamburg, Germany (58,000 Seats). Esprit Arena, Dusseldorf, Germany (55,000 Seats). Baku Olympic Stadium, Baku, Azerbaijan (68,700 Seats). Olympic Stadium, Athens, Greece (71,000 Seats). New Puskas Ferenc Stadium, Budapest, Hungary (65,000 Seats). National Stadium, Warsaw, Poland (58,000 Seats). New Chorzow Stadium, Chorzow, Poland (56,000 Seats). National Stadium, Bucharest, Romania (55,600 Seats). Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, Russia (81,000 Seats after Reconstruction). Friends Arena, Stockholm (Solna), Sweden (50,000 Seats). Ataturk Olympic Stadium, Istanbul, Turkey (76,000 Seats). Turk Telekom Arena, Istanbul, Turkey (53,000 Seats). Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, Istanbul, Turkey (51,000 Seats). Olympic Stadium, Kiev, Ukraine (70,050 Seats). Donbass Arena, Donetsk, Ukraine (53,000 Seats). These are the Stadiums I believe deserve Highest Rating of UEFA European Stadiums. Of course, others might want to add/remove Stadiums, so feel free to create your own list. I've done my research on this. I believe Highest Rated Stadiums should be 50,000 or Higher Seating Capacity, Unobstructed Views and Modern.
