    The New Zealand Government as officially asked the New Zealand Olympic Committee to formally prepare plans to host a "Regional" spread Commonwealth Games in 2034. The bid has cross party support as the previous National government did eye up 2026 until they were removed from power in 2017. Labour looked at a potential hosting but the Pandemic derailed a study.
