  1. Today we had the draw for the two tournaments happening in Paris, direct from the Paris 2024 headquarters. Note for the boys; AFC teams (asia) will come from the U-23 Asian Cup in Qatar, it starts mid April. Top 3 qualify directly, fourth will play a Intercontinental Play-off against an African team, Guinea. I'm unsure if they will pull an ranking thing to rank the 3 Asian teams to assign the teams as AFC 1,2 or 3 or if it will be according to tournament placings in Qatar. Now, Note for the girls; CAF (Africa) uses a knockout cup system to determine their Women's Olympic Qualifers. We are into the last stage, so who each of the CAF numbers are is known. CAF 1 is the winner of the tie between Nigeria and South Africa, and CAF 2 is the winner between Zambia and Morroco. My country girls are going to a wild ride in this group, oh my god... At least they qualified though. (Looking at you u-23 boys!) I wished for some geopolitical bangers in the men's draw, just to add an extra spice, but alas! Well, if Iran places forth and beats Gambia, just maybe... Seriously however, we can only guess the actual strength of each group until we get Asia sorted out. Each group has a literal continent-sized hole, one who cannot be filled so we can make a prediction until the other tournament even starts. The women's however? Totally the opposite. Group A has a big spice factor, in particular in the race for second or third. (renember that their tournament does have the two best thirds qualifying to the quarter finals.) France will get a home boost to first, but Canada and Colombia will make a war for that second place. Group B, B of death: USA, Australia and Germany in the same place, what could go wrong! And with one of Zambia or Morroco to join them, this shall be very interesting. Group C, group of revenge. Spain will have a chance to avenge their 4-0 defeat to Japan in the World Cup that they won in the end, in the first matchday to boot. Nigeria or South Africa will join Brasil on their first match as well; the overall picture in this group is similar to group A, but with a caveat: there will be 3 contenders for that second slot instead of 2...assuming Spain doesn't lose to the Nadeshiko again. Might be a very volatile group.
  2. Germany mulls bid for Euro 2024 soccer tournament The head of the German Football Federation has said it is mulling a bid to host the 2024 Euro Championships. It might all depend on what slice of the action Germany gets in hosting a pan-European tournament in 2020. The president of the German Football Federation (DFB), Wolfgang Niersbach, said his organization was considering an application to host the tournament, but that the decision would have to wait. In an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, Niersbach said Germany would wait to see if it was chosen to host the final phase - the semifinals and final - of the European Championships in 2020. European football's governing body UEFA announced in January that the tournament would be staged in 13 different cities across the continent. UEFA plans that no country should have more than one stadium in the tournament, but that the semifinals and finals should take place at the same venue. "UEFA will announce the 13 host cities in September 2014 ... Thereafter we will be able to decide what to do," said Niersbach. "If we look at the European map, we can say with assurance - and not arrogance - that we have the ability to organise such a complex tournament," he said. Istanbul is 2020 favorite No nation will qualify automatically for the 2020 tournament finals, but every host country that does make it through will be guaranteed two home matches in the group phase. Turkey has been favorite to host the last part of the tournament, but only if Istanbul is not successful in securing the summer Olympic Games for that same year. That decision is to be made in early September. The last time that Germany hosted a tournament was at the 2006 World Cup, but it has not hosted a European Championships since 1988, before the fall of the Berlin Wall. The tournament, which currently has 16 competing nations, is set to move to a 24-country format from 2016, when it will be hosted in France. rc/ipj (AFP, dpa) http://www.dw.de/germany-mulls-bid-for-euro-2024-soccer-tournament/a-16964112
  3. UEFA EURO TÜRKİYE 20?? which year will be the lucky year best forum-friends, im proud to present you this thread with an enthousiasm after that; yesterday, 13.03.2022 the greek prime minister mitsotakis came to istanbul on invitation of erdoğan.. the photo beneath is taken from the official guesthouse "the-vahdettin-villa" with the bosphorus on the background.. this remembered me the first ever bid from türkiye in 2008 to co-host with greece back then.. the turkish national team came third in 2008 (with the co-hosting of AUT-SWI).. the best placement ever at an euro tournament. As the other thread of "2028 Euros" is actually a preliminary thread, when the date of 23.03.2022 comes closer to an end about the allocation of the 2028 euro (& and maybe a double allocation of the 2032 euro) hosting.. in this thread we can continue to discuss the further course of the eventually turkish FA bids & candidature/s for after 2028 with the aim to organize the european football championships on turkish soil.. >> source-1: UEFA Euro 2028 - Wikipedia >> source-2: UEFA Euro 2032 - Wikipedia Meanwhile i made a time-span & grid of the 3 official logos produced at that time out of the 5 consecutive bids. Türkiye has build up a euro-hosting-bid-history with each time elevating the quality of the bids simultaniously with the needed infrastructure of transport/stadiums etc.. in 2030 there will be built about between 12.000 and 13.000 km of high speed rails to increase the infrastructure in host everything in the near future and of course this infrastructure/stadium-legacy will be enourmous for generations to come..
