  1. Kyiv is planning to bid to host the University Games in either 2021 or 2023: http://24-my.info/in-kiev-began-to-prepare-for-the-holding-of-the-world-universiade/ Cities that have already stated intentions to bid for 2021 are Bucharest, Romania and Cali, Colombia.
  2. I don't like watches. Got myself something else instead. Anyone see any 1968 books around? Ingrid O'Neil had a few which I contacted about but they didn't reply to me..
  3. Ok, I need help. So, my birthday's coming up and my parent's are in town. This time, they're letting me pick the present they're going to purchase for me and I REALLY want a new bid book, my Ostersund '98 one is feelin' pretty lonely Anyone got any suggestions?
  4. Other potential venues for Minsk 2019 - Velodrome - Minsk Arena - Palace of Water Sports -
  5. Thought I'd open a new thread for the 2019 European Games, now officially set to be held in the capital of Belarus, Minsk. Personally, I look forward to seeing preparations as they only have 2 years after the host city was swapped around numerous times (The Netherlands, Kazan/Sochi and now Minsk). The VP of the Belorussian NOC did say they only plan to spend $40 million on the games and that the event will be heavily dependent on existing infrastructure (Which, I think is great). They're also planning on holding only 10-15 sports opposed to Baku's 20. I did mention that the games will rely on existing facilities however they do intend to build a facility for rhythmic gymnastics (fingers crossed artistic will be held during these games too) that will likely be completed in 2018 and are renovating the Dinamo Stadium so that it is able to host the track & field events - This is apparently the approved design - There were a whole lot of other designs but they opted to go for that one. There was a really nice glass roofed one that looked very classy and elegant and way better than the one above, I'll try and find a pic. No info on the logo, slogan or the proposed dates, kinda worrying if you ask me, they've only got 2 years now...
  6. Gymnastics at the 1991 Pan American Games were held at the Alejandro Urgelles Hall in Santiago de Cuba, on commentary was Gary Bender, who was also joined by 1984 Olympic Gymnastics Medallists Kathy Johnson and Bart Conner.
  7. Does anyone know if contacting the actual Olympic Committee themselves is any success? I'd like to try and obtain copies of the Seoul & Nagoya 1988 Bid Books along with London 1992..
  8. Romania are a legit mess. They failed to qualify for Rio at the Worlds last year and I think they finished second to last in the Test Event this year. Catalina Ponor was sent as the sole representative for the women and she finished 7th in the beam finals I hope they up their game next year because they have some promising Jr's and Ponor is looking to stick around until Tokyo while Iordache and Bulimar should be healthy and recovered from injury.
  9. My eyes were glued to Gymnastics so I'll just give my thoughts on that - I'd say I was most surprised by Japan. No one expected them to finish in 4th place during the team event. Highest finish in ages. Maybe we can see them take home a medal in Tokyo. GB did awesome also! Whitlock taking home 2 golds, Tinkler taking home Britains 2nd ever medal won by a female gymnast & Wilson/Smith taking medals also. I was disappointed with how the Nigerian team was organised. Especially when they were being told last minute that they are going to pay their way to games by themselves. Many of the athletes had to resort to GoFundMe in order to get to Rio.
  10. I love the 6th one. The 7th is giving me the old Tokyo 2020 design vibes..
  11. Beijing's was 3 Books in a Container (Tominger showed me his set through pictures, I'll upload them in a bit). Brasilia, I believe did not produce an official bid book set but they did produce a photo book or whatever it is I see on the net every now and then.
  12. Speaking of Sydney, Found some 1988 & 1996 Bid Memorabilia (Yikes - $500.00) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/SYDNEY-1988-1996-OLYMPIC-BID-MEMORABILIA-EXTREMELY-RARE-/290753699812?hash=item43b2455fe4
  13. Yeah. I really wanted that Melbourne 1988 one lol, I contacted the Site but they said it was sold I hope another one surfaces soon!
  14. Found some really cool stuff on an Auction Website (mossgreen.com) - Melbourne 1988 Bid Book (I didn't even know this existed until I read something on LA84 which said that Melbourne did prepare a Book that they were going to hand over to the IOC during a trip to Lausanne but the trip never happened) - http://www.mossgreen.com.au/m/lot-details/index/catalog/161/lot/76569/BID-BOOK-nbsp-Invitation-to-celebrate-the-games-of-the-XXIVth-Olympiad-Melbourne-1988-Melbourne-1981-82-pages-in-English-amp-French-Limited-Edition-0174-650 Melbourne 1988 Feasability Study - http://www.mossgreen.com.au/m/lot-details/index/catalog/161/lot/76251/Olympic-Games-Melbourne-1988-Feasability-Study-in-5-Volumes-Melbourne-1978 Brisbane 1992 Bid Book (Looks like they have just the 1 Book which had the Bid Logo on) - http://www.mossgreen.com.au/m/lot-details/index/catalog/161/lot/76252/BID-BOOK-Brisbane-1992-Brisbane-c1988-signed-by-Sallyanne-Atkinson Melbourne 1996 Bid Book - http://www.mossgreen.com.au/m/lot-details/index/catalog/161/lot/76269/BID-BOOK-Melbourne-1996-Official-submission-to-Host-the-Games-of-the-XVIth-Olympiad-3-Volumes-in-slipcase-Melbourne-1990 I contacted the Site via Email and sadly, All of these have been sold At least we get to see what Melbourne's 1988 Book looked like. I wonder what Seoul's and Nagoya's looked like too...
  15. Eh. I might go for it. I'm getting tired of reading my Ostersund 1998 Bid Book lol. I was disappointed when I was sent only 1 of the Books, Should ask for Pics of the Books next time I guess. I really want Athens 1996 complete with the Box, Books & Tapes.
  16. Man, You beat me to that Toronto 1996 Set! I was seriously considering purchasing that one! Ah well, Congrats and yeah, The price for the Beijing Set is ridiculous. I came across a Beijing 2000 Set on a Chinese Site going for 3000 Yuan. I'm super excited, I might be getting my hands on a Tampa 2012 Set soon!!!
  17. Beijing 2022 going for a whopping $2000 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Beijing-2022-Official-Olympic-Bid-Report-Book-RARE-/381705525418?
  18. That Athens Guy is back selling another 1996 Bid Book Set - http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATHENS-1996-OLYMPIC-CANDIDATE-CITY-6-SUBFILES-FROM-THE-BIDING-FILE-/222126974295? ^^Seems to be the complete Set with the Box according to the Pictures provided. I'd go for it but timing kills it for me...
  19. My Östersund 1998 book came today, really happy with the quality of the book despite the overdue delivery and a few marks and folds... Really excited to see the venue plan and presentation!
  20. Anyone know what Ostersund's 1998 Bid Book set is like?
  21. Anyone know what this is? - http://www.ebay.de/itm/Berlin-2000-Olympia-Bildband-die-Stadt-fur-Olympia-Hrsg-und-Red-Berlin-200-/172059310895?hash=item280f88bb2f:g:m7IAAOSwJkJWlCI5 I'm pretty sure Berlin submitted 3 Volumes opposed to 1 shown above...
  22. Sapporo 1972 Bid Book - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1972-SAPPORO-OLYMPIC-CANDIDATE-CITY-JAPAN-PLAN-REPORT-BOOK-/171169351193?hash=item27da7d0619:g:Yh0AAOxyuR5TX2b7 Turns out the Amsterdam set I wanted (With the slipcase) was the French copy :/ Looks like I'll have to go for the non-slipcase one, I'm also planning on buying the Manchester 96 Presentation Summary that Darcy posted earlier.
  23. Ok, Super Pumped. Buying my 1st Bid Book next week! (Amsterdam 92).
  24. ^^I had a look, And I'm thinking - 'Is it just me or are most Main Stadium Renders in Bid Books following the same format/design?' I've seen their Stadium Design in many other Books too... Would've loved to seen Czechoslovakia host the Games...They did host a few events for the Alternate Games held in 1984. I remember Artistic Gymnastics being held at the Winter Stadium in Olomouc. Anyways, I've checked on AbeBooks UK and found 4 Amsterdam Bid Books, The lowest is going for £15.17 with £6.00 Shipping! Not much detail about the condition so maybe that's why there's a low price...
  25. Well, The Brisbane 1992 Bid Book set is pretty rare, Darcy had to go to a Library to view it, I would love to see Pictures of it! I'll PM you my Email
