Ubc Olympic Hockey Arena Phase I Within Weeks Of Completion
Canuck replied to mr.x's topic in Vancouver 2010 Winter Games
The big rink is going up at a fairly good pace too. They already have the concrete parts of the stands in on one side. I'll try and head over and take some pics in a few days. -

That seems to be the common assumption now, although I haven't heard anything mentioned about it with the stadium proposal.

if you look at the pdf file, it appears the new location is going to be over the seabus terminal, rather than over the railyards. A project of that magnitude is probably going to take quite a while to get figured out, nevermind actually building it.

http://www.whitecapsnewstadium.com/media_k...l.cfm?newsid=24 http://www.whitecapsnewstadium.com/data/upload/csb6.pdf I still think it's highly doubtful it will be ready by 2010, but this is still really positive news that they're at least getting the ball rolling.

yeah Quebec or anywhere out east would make a lot more sense than Ft St John. However the other three are necessary and will go ahead no matter what. UNBC doesn't have any sports facilities. They need to get something going to be able to have teams in the CIS. SFU doesn't have a stadium. They play at Swangard. And PacificSport is the kind of organization this country needs if we want to be successful in athletics. They're already a well established organization, they just need the facilities. http://www.pacificsport.com/

but still.... http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/st...81a&k=54892 Although I do agree the Fort St. John complex seems a little unnecessary.
