Singapore 2010 Theme Song unveiled
NYCD 2012 replied to DesmondChan's topic in Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games
To be honest, I haven't heard any of those names other than Kingston and Nauser, who was the Singapore Idol runner-up last year. -
Ticket Sales to start March 31
NYCD 2012 replied to NYCD 2012's topic in Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games
Definately. I highly doubt they'll allocate the sale of tickets to one of those independent ticket agents. However, the SSC (Sport Council) and Singapore Pools might sell em as well. -
Its was reported today on the local newspaper, The Straits Times that ticket sales will start next week on March 31. This was stated as IOC President Rogge is currently in Singapore for a progress review. More details to follow.

Ceremonies at Floating Stadium
NYCD 2012 replied to Mau2010's topic in Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games
Well, the Bay behind the studium is a freshwater reservoir I highly doubt any performance on water. Fireworks expect lots of em. Thousands gather around the Bay each year for National Day (9 Aug) so I expect the commitee to plan some month long event starting from the first week of August. I just hope they don't rope in that typical four races cliche thing for the ceremonies. Expect schools to be somewhat involve. During the Asian Youth Games, the ceremonies involved dance troupes and bands from various schools. The organising commitee also invited school representitives from almost all high schools. -
Ceremonies at Floating Stadium
NYCD 2012 replied to Mau2010's topic in Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games
For what I heard, the local cable operator, Starhab will be dedicating two channels especially for the games. They did the same for Beijing and the Asian Youth Games last year. Broadcasts worldwide will be free on the games website -
Look whos talking. I started provoking people ? If your fellow countrymen didn't started flaming and appearing with your disgusting nationalist and arrogant behavior, I wouldn't even had bothered to post that.
-
To put it simply, they can't take criticism and have the urge flame back every negative comment.
-
Jealous ? Apparently you Indians think too highly of yourself. Neither are you people exactly aware of the world around you. Do yourself a favour and read up a little on World Affairs. I am sure everyone here is just as enthusiastic as the next Indian. If you people want to come here and promote your country's hosting and preparation, by all means do. But please don't bring along your disgusting nationalist attitude and act as if everyone here owes you something. I don't think you people were given the right to flame every comment just because it puts your country in a bad light... if you can't take any negative comments or criticism then why bother coming here in the first place ? We are not oblige to hide our concerns and criticism, you know.

Go then, I already enough of your sappy countrymen flooding my country with your so called "foreign talent". I really enjoy being deprived of a place in an elite school at the expense of some bloody loser from India or China. I enjoy smelling that disgusting floral sense you eejits seem to carry all the time and I certainly enjoy having your countrymen flooding my crime with crime. If you actually think everyone in the world is eating out the palm of your hand just because you saps have a developing economy, you obiviously need a reality check. Only a sap like Singapore Government, with a faltering birth rate would be naive enough to believe eejits are considered "foreign talent".

Thank You so much for the pictures, great to see the progress on the venues !

And I am sure Nigeria has a very glorious track record of hosting international events with their fold-in velodrome and inability to host a simple Beauty pageant. Not to mention their wonderful handling of logistics during the All-Africa Games. Now remind me, which country was it that eventually hosted the pageant ? I think it started with a G...

Can they even get the seating configuration for ALL venues by November 15 ?

Roof May Come Off For Olympics!
NYCD 2012 replied to YellowVest's topic in Vancouver 2010 Winter Games
That would would make BC place look like cr*p . Honestly, taking the roof off BC place is like removing the glass and steel canopies of the Munich Olympic Studium, it makes BC Place unique not just some plain empty hole. -
I agree. Delhi is a bit behind schedule. To make things worse, the Indian Olympic Commitee has been bring too many test events for the venues which actually makes it a bigger rush to complete the venues on time. By the way, does anyone know the progress in the upgrading of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium ?

We have the same thing here. The only exception is the Speaker's corner in downtown.
-
Nope, not yet. Although, I have been hearing they're released most of it towards the year end.

I can't blame you for the sarcasm. Singaporeans have a love affair with Lion and so on.. In fact, the name Singapore means Lion City. Nothing spells Singapore like the Lion/Merlion. The SEA Games 1993, Asian Youth Games all had Lion mascots, so yea, no surprise they went with a Merlion and Lion for the YOG mascots.

Democracy ? Ever seen any of their famous Korean parliment brawls ? Still it was really that turning point that lead to spike of South Korean economy. Just look at wide spread of Korean culture today ! Its more global and to some aspects, similar to Japan's. LG, Samsung they all had their world debut at Seoul '88 and KBS (Korean Broadcastic Service) ? Their shows are among the most sought after in Asia.

Beijing Faces Post-olympic Dilemmas
NYCD 2012 replied to OlympicGames's topic in Beijing 2008 Summer Games
It is the rent for the Bird's nest that has discouraged the Chinese soccer clubs to move it. The venues located in the university campuses are all currently use for university events. I know there are proposals for the Water cube to be tuned into a water theme park as well as office space. -
