Predictions For The Short-list

Actually , I am not that sure myself . If I am not wrong , Soccer . As for the Athletics , I think it could be held on the floating stadium . The platform is pinned down on the seabed so the water will not affect it. -

Well .. I see 3 options 1. The goverment is considering to built a 10 000- 15 000 football stadium in Toa Payoh (Its pronouced as To-a Pa-yo). 2. A 25 000 seater temporary stadium can be built at the Padang, which is about 5-10 minute walk from the floating stadium. 3. There is a small strip of road in front of the floating stadium which can be used - this is the same strip of road which is used for the Singapore F1 Grand Prix 2008. -

Predictions For The Short-list
NYCD 2012 replied to NYCD 2012's topic in Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games
The National stadium won't be open til 2011 . They'll use the Marina Bay floating stadium which has just hosted the National Day Parade . It is located at the heart of the city and seats 27 000. Just behind it , is the Marina Center which has 3 hotels just across the road. Its a world-first . Actually , the stadium platform can be viewing from the hotels & the new Singapore Flyer so the number of people view it will be more than 27000 -

The lack of reconitition around the world and its facilities . How many of us actually know something about Algeria ? Facilities , although it has some facilites in place , these are ageing . Its main stadium , Stade 5 Juillet 1962 was built in 1976 . Algeria's GDP is the 2nd lowest among all of the 11 countries bidding , only Guatemela is poorer. Are there enough hotel rooms in Algiers to accmodate the large number of people ? Transportation is another issue , Algiers has no metro system. Its system will only start countruction next year , I doubt it'll be really by 2010. -

Judging from the number of cities , I guess 5 , 6 at most -
Anyone up making predicting the short-list ? I've posted mine on the other topic , but here is it again Intertesting . I think these 3 cities will easily get short-listed [*]ATHENS, Greece [*]MOSCOW, Russia [*]TURIN, Italy With these 3 fighting for the 2 remaining spots [*]SINGAPORE, Singapore [*]KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia [*]BELGRADE, Serbia I don't see the following cities being short-listed , [*]ALGIERS, Algeria - Lack of reconitition and World-class facilities [*]BANGKOK, Thailand - With the recent political situation , I don't think so. [*]DEBRECEN, Hungary - Where in the world it is ? I have hardly heard of it. Should have gone with Budapest [*]GUATEMALA CITY 1 word , POVERTY [*]POZNAN, Poland - Rather small for a worldwide event. Try Warsaw ! Does Algiers , Poznan & Debrecen even have enough hotel rooms ?

Actually , hardly anyone cares about this law. The police and so on close a blind eye for these laws . Sometimes even I smuggle some gum across though the airport customs. And in case you're wondering, I'm chewing Honey-dew flavour gum while typing this

Athletics need not be in main stadium. There are 5 or 6 stadiums with a track and a capacity ranging from 2000-6000 .

Official Start Of The 2010 Bid
NYCD 2012 replied to ghost1's topic in Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games
I meant Algiers will first out in the voting. The IOC isn't going to reject Athens, Moscow, Singapore and Turin for Algiers. Algiers is the only one of the 5 that has not hosted anything olympics related. Athens, Moscow and Turin are all olympics cities. While Singapore hosted the 2005 IOC Session. Besides, Algiers couldn't even provide a decent website when they hosted the All-africa this year. And don't even let me get started on facilities... -

I'd say Algiers will be out first no doubt ! The deadline for bids is the 8th of September. -

Ioc Introduces Youth Olympic Games
NYCD 2012 replied to GBModerator's topic in Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games
Couldn't agree more ! People want the 5 Cs Car Condominum Club membership Credit card Career If you ask me , this youth olympics bid is just another crazy project to raise Singapore's standing in the world after the F1 , Singapore Flyer , Universal Studios Singapore , Las Vegas Sands casino , the Sports hub , the 2005 IOC session , the 2006 IMF & World bank meeting & the new downtown . -

Yes , Singapore's bid was reported in the local newspaper here today . -
Singapore is one the six cities bidding ! This morning , the local newspaper , The Straits Times reported it . It feature 28 sports and feature athletes between 14-18 . The estimated cost is about USD$30 million . However , the IOC will pay for the Athletes travel cost , housing & medals - an estimated USD$12 Million in saving for the sucessful host city . Shortlisted candidate cities will announced to the coming months with the announcement of the successful host city with the announcement of the winning bidder in January 2008 . A games of such magnitude will suit S'pore fine . With the National stadium expected to be torn down next year , the Republic would be left without a 55'000 capacity stadium until 2011 when the sports hub in compeleted . However , Singapore's existing stadia - with an existing seating capacity of about 3000-4000 - are believed to be sufficient . The floating platform at Marina Bay also used for next year Singapore F1 Grand Prix with seating for 27 000 could be used for the opening & closing ceremonies . A temporary stadium made at the Padang with a capacity of 25 000 can also be used . With a maximun of 3200 athetes with compete in these games . In my opinion , I think Singapore should bid of the 2014 Youth Games instead , we would have the new National stadium by then .

Interiors Of The Olympic Village Suites

Looks very luxurious to me ! It has that modern chic touch , something you usually don't see in China . I was hoping for a creamy brown/beige look . -
I expect it to be really RED , if you know what I mean
