  1. Flights - Jetstar. They fly from Melb/Brisbane and Cairns. Book as soon as you can or perhaps fly to HK and grab a Dragonair or Cathay flight. Shouldn't cost you more than a grand tops. Hotels? Stay in Yokohama or Narita or in the Western/Northern suburbs. The transport in Tokyo is amazing and to be honest the venues are all over the city so it'll involve substantial travel either way. Avoid bullet trains. Jetstar Japan/Vanilla Air are cheap for internal travel. Japan can be cheap - even during big events.
  2. It's now been updated - but now Water Polo A Reserve is $0.00... obviously a few bugs.
  3. Yeah I think I figured it out. I'm not sure what to do with the two sessions that have a $0.00 ticket price. I'm guessing that just means my price point (B reserve) is not being offered - which is weird for football and athletics.
  4. Cosport sent a confusing email - we have until Saturday to amend our request? I can see all the prices of what I want (though two sessions state $0.00 so I guess they aren't selling those?) - yet it says 0 confirmed after each session? It says to reconfirm the order but can't see where to do so or change tickets? And there will be a lottery and official confirmations next week? I'm baffled.
  5. Never said it will be Melbourne - just said it should be Melbourne. There is no justification for the money needed for Brisbane to be "compliant" being spent on an Olympics.
  6. The IOC needs to show that their exhaustively talked about Agenda 2020 can translate to the Winter Games - which is a far less important event when compared with the Summer Games. The IOC can gamble with Stockholm/Are safe in the knowledge that if it does in fact all go to sh*t they can call on a previous host to step in with minimal notice (SLC, PC, China again). Yes - that's not ideal but is worth the chance. Milan/Cortina is not as good of a showpiece for the 'New IOC'. Now is the time to show how flexible they are willing to be.
  7. I think an imperfect Swedish bid will be better long term for the IOC than another Italian winter games. Stockholm by 11 or so.
  8. Yep. Obviously a priority for them. Right after finding a way to feed their billion plus impoverished citizens, fixing the epidemic of corruption and working towards basic human rights. Maybe abolish the caste system, cut down on the raping and the female infanticide. Possibly halt that undeclared domestic war against religious minorities as well and build some basic national infrastructure. Oh I could go on but that's just off the top of my head.
  9. They have to do this because of the Japanese consumer laws. They had to do the same thing for the Nagano Olympics.
  10. I doubt that would be allowed - you could try but there were cases in the London/Vancouver sales where people who were found to have multiple accounts had their entire order cancelled. The ticket selers have been at this for decades so they know the tricks. If you have multiple VISA cards and multiple postal addresses then give it a go. I think for the lesser known sports the general on-sale after the initial allocation will be flooded with tickets as all those people who ordered tons of tickets won't actually buy them all. That is incredible - I am baffled that the Tokyo organisers are the hold up? Unlikely. I honestly think we will get dicked royally with the prices. CoSport knows there is a huge amount of interest and ample travel options between Australia and Japan. This is going to really hurt the wallet.
  11. Messages don't work - nyc2012@gmail.com if you can. I'll amend this post after you've sent it Thanks!
  12. Sadly without a VPN I'll have to wait for Cosport to eventually update with prices. I've asked for C and below reserve either way as the majority of the venues will be compact.
  13. I've just chosen the tickets I want based on the Japanese prices and added 50% to conservatively get what I think the prices will be. https://tokyo2020.org/en/news/notice/20180720-03.html Interestingly they do not ask for a VISA card straight away as the Japanese consumer law means you get a choice on what you buy - so come June you will be able to see what you got and just buy what you want - not everything. This means a lot of people will select hundreds of tickets but only intend to buy a few. My early picks are - • TOOOC01 Opening Ceremony • Jul 24, 2020 • TOHBL01 Handball • Jul 25, 2020 • TOSWM01 Swimming • Jul 25, 2020 • TOCSL01 Canoe Slalom • Jul 26, 2020 • TORUG01 Rugby • Jul 27, 2020 • TOFBL19 Football • Jul 29, 2020 • TOWPO23 Water Polo • Aug 03, 2020 • TOCTR01 Cycling Track • Aug03, 2020 • TOCLB01 Sports Climbing • Aug 04, 2020
  14. So Tokyo tickets go on sale today via CoSport (I assume ATR and the rest are doing the same) - what are you all buying? I'll check out what is on offer and see what hideous mark up they have.
  15. I've been painstakingly gathering the IOC evaluation reports - I'm more of a fan of the failed dreams than the end result these days.
  16. Followed by Sapporo in 2034 since the apparently all important shinkansen won't reach there until 2031.
  17. Also Klagenfurt 2006 had venues in Austria, Italy and Slovenia. So not the first 3 country bid...
  18. I've had my say in this thread - As a fellow Brisbanite (reluctant as that may be) there is just too.many red flags.
  19. Um you may want to check their bid books as they were planning on building an entire Olympic park as well as spend billions on upgrades to the existing infrastructure. Yes - Beijing is building up the skiing area, however they only needed to build an ice skating oval as far as indoor venues go. While the Chinese are spending big again arguably they will get more use from their snow venues as their athletes programs ramp up to dominate the Winter Games.
  20. Sadly I completely struck out with tickets in the ballot. 12 games - not a single ticket. That does not bode well for Tokyo 2020.
  21. If it makes it to the vote and can get the finances sorted - maybe. Even though can the IOC give the Games to a city whose residents just do not want the Games? Are we at a point where the will of the people will be just over-ruled out of hand? At the end of the day you can say the residents of Stockholm/Are/Falun etc will have 7 years to get excited - but they will also have 7 years to protest, disrupt and cause mischief. It is a bizarre situation.
  22. Was that logo done using Paint? It makes me miss the good old Jaca 2014 logo...
