Why would Berliners be so anti?
-
BTW, I'm not actually Japanese, my name comes from this: The best character in the Mario series (image from Wikipedia)

What would you like to see in the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics? Any ideas you have for as much or as little of the ceremony are welcome, & as time goes on, this thread could also become a "news" thread when the Games get closer. Thoughts?
-
Düsseldorf-Rhine conurbation? Too spread out, I guess.
-
CAF, what do you think, should Germany try to get the 2022 WOG for Munich or focus on the summer games for Berlin or another city?
-
I'd like to find PDFs of the bid books from 04, some interesting cities in there, I think I'm right in saying that none of the 04 cities have made it to candidature phase since.
-
Bristol should take the 2012 basketball arena, we need an arena & that would be a perfect way to get one cheaply. Could put it on the old airport site at Filton or behind Temple Meads.
-
Lausanne is the IOC headquarters, isn't it? There would have been some cities crying foul if they'd won.
-
Looking through the bid logos...Lausanne bidding for the WOG in 94 could have been a little awkward for the IOC.
-
Which Olympic bid logos do you think are/were better than the final games logos? There'll be a poll up soon (hopefully ) The bid and games logos (plus some real obscure gems) are all here: http://www.aldaver.com/ May the best (bid) logos win!

To be fair Melbourne did have the air of "You could have had this if Sydney hadn't cr**ped on us"
-
Where is the gallery thread, is it in London 2012 or the GOD bit? He'd do brilliant things with the Sochi logo, with it being possible to fill in.
-
I think both Toronto & the US will be helped by the fact that the 2028 decision will be made in the 2020s decade.
-
I'll never forget that sig, it was brilliant. Does anyone know where the gallery thread of all daveypodmore's sigs is? His sigs were amazing, he used the 2012 logo far better than LOCOG ever did.
-
So it'll be a cert in the 30s or 40s once places like Paris, Rome, Durban, Toronto etc have had their turn?
-
Pups, is there any chance of the Bid Library website coming back? Please?
-
RobH used to have a sig spoofing the Rio map, with White City, Wembley, & Stratford highlighted, with the strapline "The map that will win Croydon the Olympics"

Really? Is that all? I thought it would need to be northern Scotland to even be vaguely near doable. Maybe that could work, it'll be ages before we get the summers again, & we're improving at the winters all the time. Also be a return home for curling, we've got a few famous winter Olympians to back it (Torvill, Dean, Robin Cousins, Amy Williams, Rhona Martin, Eddie the Eagle ) Also got a good chance of curling gold again in Sochi. It would have the newness of being the first WOG bid from the UK & the first proper bid from Scotland. Maybe in the 2030s-40s perhaps?
-
Ice events in London, skiing & stuff on the Chilterns. Yeah, we could do it! On a more serious note, could Scotland ever host the games? It's the only place in the UK that could. Maybe Aberdeen as host city?
-
Does Madrid suffer from not being as renowned as Barcelona? Is Madrid the Manchester to Barcelona's London?
-
I'd love Sweden to host, but they're too small for a modern summer games, & Stockholm is too far from slopes for the WOG. Maybe a European games for Stockholm or Gothenburg would be best for them.
-
Yeah, that's great! Get Stockholm involved from 1912 too, LA from 1932 & London from 2012 might be more difficult though
-
It's sad to see that France thinks of itself like this Surely an Olympics could do you a power of good, to show the world & yourselves that France is still relevant & modern, to give France a lift.
-
So if Rome hadn't given up, Madrid would've been left with Doha & Baku, & we'd have had Tokyo, Istanbul, & Rome at the session?
