In China the major concern is that the opening will be scheduled on the fourth day of Chinese New Year in 2022. Many shops and restaurants will be closed during the week-long Chinese New Year holiday.

Hangzhou will build 7 new metro lines simultaneously ahead of the 2022 Asian Games.
QuoteNew Metro projects
Hangzhou passengers will be able to transfer between Metro Line 7 and Line 1 at Xiaoshan International Airport in the future, according to a public notice posted online.
Hangzhou City Public Resources Trading website put up a request for bids on projects related to Metro Line 7 and the third phase of Line 1.
Metro Line 7 will stretch 47.6 kilometers with 23 underground stations, including eight interchange stations. It will connect Hangzhou Railway Station with Xiaoshan International Airport as well as improve connectivity between the two CBDs, Qianjiang New City and Qianjiang Century City.
The third phase of Metro Line 1 will extend 12.2 kilometers with five underground stations, including one interchange station at Xiaoshan International Airport.
The first Metro line to the airport will start operation in 2019.
By 2022, when Hangzhou hosts the Asian Games, the city will have 10 Metro lines connecting nine districts.

Online forums in China said Shenyang has submitted the bid of 2021 Asian Winter Games. However it is quite low-key that I cannot find any news report on it.
According to the forum discussion, it seems that Shenyang faces the problem of inadequate infrastructure. Therefore it is not clear whether Shenyang will be the sole candidate. There are also discussions that the 2021 Asian Winter Games will be awarded to Beijing as a testing event of the 2022 Winter Olympic, yet other said 2021 maybe too rush for Beijing to get all things ready.
Anyway, it seems that Shenyang is likely to be a major candidate, if not the sole one, of 2021 Asian Winter Games.

It is wonderful! Ever Onward Indonesia!
-
This one (the Olympic one) seems to be very familiar to me. I wonder a very similar design has been used in an international sport games, or a national games.
-
Although if Hangzhou wins, these games would have very nice natural landmarks. The city is a more moderate skyscraperfest compared to Guanghzou and Beijing and has more green areas. Its lake is the most popular of China and is popular for its description by Marco Polo travels.
The first photo is Guilin in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The rest are Hangzhou.

Originally the OCA has planned to switch the 2018 to 2019 and afterward, so it should be 2019 and 2023. However after Hanoi withdrawn the 2019 host, OCA got a problem in finding the new host and finally Jakarta took the host. But as Indonesia will have the presidental election in 2019, so the "trade-off" was that Jakarta will host it in 2018 instead of 2019.
The poiny is, according to the decision of OCA, even if Jakarta will host it in 2018, the next games should still be 2023. However now Hangzhou is bidding for 2022 instead of 2023. It's really a question whether OCA will still enforce the year change of the games.
-
Well, 2015 is 7 years before 2022, so it is time to decide the host of 2022 Asian Games now.
And why not 2023..... Hmmmm good question and it's also my question. Have to ask OCA.
-
The OCA will vote for the host of 2022 Asian Games NEXT MONTH, and seems that no one wanted to bid. Even yesterday the local media in Hangzhou still reported the news that the Hangzhou government denied that they have the plan to bid. Then all in sudden the national news today said the Chinese Olympic Committee has already submitted the bid from Hangzhou to the OCA
Seems that there were some discussion between COC and OCA to prevent from the embarrassment of no one bid for the 2022 or 2023 games.

So even for Kazakhstan "hello Beijing 2022" sounds better!
No, no. Almaty 2022 sounds great! Go Almaty! Go Kazakhstan!
-
The mayor of Zhangjiakou said it should be ZJK but not Harbin to bid for the winter games because "we have the less polluted air in the region north of Yangtze River"
(Speechless)
-
Harbin please.

By the way I have started the same topic in another section. I did not realize that there was already a 2022 section when I posted the news.
-
New Taipei City (previously known as Taipei County) has already announced to bid 2023 Asian Games.
-
Hong Kong will not bid for 2019 and 2023.
-
One thing can be sure. A London bus will drive into the stadium during the closing ceremony.

China presented itself as part of the world and as a great nation - I just want to add that I was surprise that Mao-tse-tung was part of the OC...
Mao Tse Tung?? Mao has already become a past tense in China. I guess even the government leaders don't believe in the Mao's idoelogy now. In fact the current version of "political education" in China has already thrown out those "class stuggle", "rule by workers and farmers" blar blar blar. The current party policy is to inculde as much as possible people (inculding capitalism big bosses), earning money and improving living standard. So Mao has already gone, he just remains in local political jokes and tourist souvenirs.

On the official website of Beijing 2008 you can watch and download the theme song of the game, which was first performed on the opening ceremony yesterday. According to local Chinese media, it is the "slowest" Olympic theme song ever, yet the message is clear: we have no difference from you, we are family. It is one important message the song writer wants to express that all kinds of "prototypes", "misunderstanding" and "myths" project to people from other countries/ culture/ religion/ ideology backgrounds should be breakthrough.
I love this song, and love the MV too.

Oh in CCTV thereis now a programme to interview the director of the opening and other initial stage proposals of the ceremony. At first the design of lighting cauldron is by several phoneix.
-
Believe it or not, most comments by the people on the web in China say the opening is "boring", "not creative enough", "like a gathering of many talent shows", "the uniform of the Chinese team likes a dish of egg with tomato", "too grateful that the five awful FUWA didn't show up in the ceremony" blar blar blar...

Not sure if it has been discussed here. The opening ceremony showcased the names of the previous Winter Olympics hosts. In which the 1960 host "Squaw Valley" was renamed "Lake Tahoe", following the recent call to remove racist terms in US placenames.
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-remove-squaw-hundreds-federal-lands-place-names-2021-11-19/
But on the IOC website the host of the 1960 Winter Olympics is still "Squaw Valley".
