  1. I think the river parade is tragedy that's waiting to happen. one bad accident (fire, engine failure, one wrong team in the wrong boat) can put a blithe on the opening ceremony. i hope the Paris opening ceremony team will account for safety of the athletes AND host the ceremonies in the day time. because night and a deep body of water do not mix well.
  2. i just want to add more ideas. -there's should be a passing tribute to Marilyn Monroe. maybe in an open air convertible. will be part of the gold rush scene -might be sound cliche but a musical tribute to all the artist that 'came' LA from the beach boys, tupac and kathy perry. - a montage Olympic flame rally to the tune of Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles - YouTube and the final will be escorted by the Vanessa Carlton playing a moving piano. - a bear for the red wood forest scene . not an actual bear but a life size puppet stealing picnic baskets from tourist. - Serena Williams to light the Olympic flame or they can do a 2012 and have children light it. -a tribute to social media/the internet. again a re-hash from 2012 but the us military actually invented the system of the internet and Tim just invented the website also, i think they do the la la land for the hand over. not whole thing but the concept of cars stuck in traffic is not only very LA but very Americana. i would imagine divers and passengers getting so bored that they would start playing sports. bikes, skate boards and free runners jumping from car to car. a golfer getting some practice shoots in. two soccer players having a bit of footie

  7. so far the tread has been discussing weather the OC for 2028 would be about america (with all the founding father, colonial attires Etc) or LA as the city it self (Hollywood in patricular) i would a suggest a marriage of both american with an LA perspective. much like London, we start with a redwood forest with the early tribal settlers maybe Spanish church to represent the mexico-Spain colonization. then, it all get rip apart to represent the gold rush where many american journeyed to find gold and/ minerals. add in a bit of westworld to it with cowboys and such. the US president can arrive like the queen with a superman or captain america sequence . they can also add a wizard of oz scene where you can do a 'tribute' to the great depression. it starts in B&W where a girl sing' over the rainbow and then goes to color then they are transported to the emerald city (LA). what i think they should also add is a tribute to the LGBT community. basically, i just want rupaul to open the parade of nations with ' category is: Olympic athlete realness ' and also drag queens as sign bearers.
  8. off topic to the current discussion: i know it's still way to far to speculate but i think, for the opening ceremony, drag queens might be involved. the wizard of oz might be the over arching theme. with LA as the 'emerald city' youtube and the internet might be involve. also, the ceremonies might be super gay which will no be liked by the African and Arab countries and for the handover, the opening scene from lala land
  9. i think the focus of fukushima will dampen the WW2 sentiments. it will still focus on nukes but it's a natural disaster rather than man made or an act of war. less focus on stereotypical japan would mean that there will be no ninjas or geisha but i also think less focus on amine culture. my only wish is world order is involve. may be even ushering in the the athletes
  10. it looks a bit of a mess. i was expecting a bit more 'carry on matron' than low rent childrens show. should have focus more on the hefestos story and then mix in the stoke madeville story. but this is just the 2nd heritage flame lighting ceremony. maybe in two years we iron things out and make a straight forward (but not as serious ceremony like greece) ceremony. missing the armillary sphere. would have been nice if a brazillian paralympic athlete spin the circle with his/her effort.
  11. http://www.mix96.co.uk/news/local/2078338/tanni-grey-thompson-to-light-paralympic-flame-in-aylesbury/ While an audience of 1,400 ticket holders will witness the Heritage Flame being lit at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, thousands more will be celebrating in a carnival atmosphere in Aylesbury's Vale Park to give the Flame a fitting send-off as it is transferred to Rio. Baroness Grey-Thompson urged the public to flock to the event in Vale Park, particularly as a way of showing their support for the GB team who are competing in Rio. The Baroness, 47, is a former British wheelchair racer, now a member of the house of Lords, speaker and television commentator. She was born with spina bifida and joined the British Wheelchair Racing Squad aged 17, competing in the Paralympic Games over 16 years and winning eleven gold, four silver and one bronze medals - breaking 30 world records during her glittering career. Penny Mordaunt, Minister of State for Disabled People, Work and Health, said: Tim Reddish OBE, Chairman of the British Paralympic Association, said: Paralympic Flame Lighting Ceremony 2012 Martin McElhatton, member of the Bucks Legacy Board which has organised the Heritage Flame Lighting Ceremony, said: During the daytime on 2 September, Stoke Mandeville Stadium will also host the ParalympicsGB Carnival, the first of six family-friendly activity days around the UK organised by the British Paralympic Association and supported by the Spirit of 2012. This free fun day at the Stadium offers a chance for anyone and everyone to meet Paralympians, try out Paralympic sports, talk to those involved in running them and discover what is available in their own area.

  13. with the trend of set pieces in the stands (glastonbury tor in london and the favelas in rio) i think there would be a massive mt. fuji at the end of the stadium.
  14. i still love the bus but yes london's handover was little to no partnership with the beijing counterpart. you can even see that they used thier own crew to film it. rio had the whole stage to themselves. london had a spot on the front end.
  15. can any tell me what song are the playing @6:57 do you know @Ikarus360
  16. i predicted that rio would have a favela scene. so i thinkg tokyo's OC will have a shibuya crossing section with references to amine and otaku culture. i don't think it will be traditional. may be for the protocol like the flag raising ceremony. unless they do a pandemonium, i think it should focus more on technology and media. here are list of characters (and shows) we should watch out on 2020 detective conan, lupin the 3rd, naruto, blech, ghost fighter, dragonball z, full metal alchmist, samirai x (which may appear on an historical section), slum dunk, hatsune miku i would also like band like baby metal and world order

  18. we should really not throw stone while living in s glass how. rio had fundamental editorial issues. i'm still baffled by the opening image and the unti-climaxtic flame lighting and putting the samba in the middle and not at the end.
  19. because that the on thing that will remember in that show. everything else was tepid at best spot on
