    Hey, regardless of the final results, it's great to see Canadians doing well all across the board in stuff like fencing or volleyball.

    Wow, what a day. A dissapointment in diving, but great stuff everywhere else. A new star was born in the form of Penny Oleksiak , 3 beach volleyball teams won, and the men's volleyball team with a huge sweep of the powerful Americans. Not to mention the rugby sevens team doing well to move to the semis and avoid New Zealand until potentially the final.

    Totally unfair for any of us watching CBC's coverage to make an accurate assessment of the ceremony. What complete garbage presented to us by the national broadcaster.

    Interesting ceremony so far. But it's only been 50 minutes. There must be some more artistic segments to come after the parade? Also missing: a tribute to past Olympics in the countdown, and the Olympic rings. A very bizarre, non-traditional, yet strangely highly entertaining ceremony thus far.

    Beach volleyball stadium actually looks great now.

    So it seems, like 2014, we will see separate commentators for a marquee event (track and field/figure skating) between live on cable and delayed in prime time.
