  1. what if the Nice carnival was associated with the Olympics? https://frenchriviera.travel/nice-carnival/# And a closing ceremony looking like this: https://www.nicecarnaval.com/en/
  2. Here is the average attendance of the hockey team:
  3. Do you mean the Nice Football Club (OGC Nice)? The answer is no... They have a quite recent 35000 seats stadium (2013). And for the WOG the need is to build to ice rinks. I can't see how it could be used for Football. By the way, nobody knows what they can do with them! Here what it is written in feasibility assessment file:
  4. The president of the AURA region initiated a project a few years ago but, as already said, the mayors of Lyon, Grenoble and Annecy all come from green parties. It seems that he didn't even try to talk to them (at least that's what the mayor of Grenoble said). I could'nt find any comment about the bid from the mayor of Lyon. I interpret this silence as “I have much more important things to do” Here a comment from the mayor of Annecy: https://www.ledauphine.com/culture-loisirs/2023/12/01/jo-2030-ni-pour-ni-contre-le-groupe-politique-du-maire-d-annecy-sera-vigilant "neither for nor against, the political group of the mayor of Annecy will be “vigilant” Here a comment from the mayor of Grenoble: https://www.ledauphine.com/jeux-olympiques/2023/11/30/jeux-olympiques-d-hiver-2030-dans-les-alpes-grenoble-n-a-toujours-pas-ete-consultee-eric-piolle-reagit-a-l-avancee-de-la-candidature-francaise “Grenoble has still not been consulted”: Éric Piolle reacts to the progress of the French candidacy “I said it, I am leaning towards a model of Winter Olympics which would take place in 6 to 8 locations, to stop building, artificializing, making cold beds and infrastructures which are of no use. In this context, the French Alps have their place. But there is also the question of consultation with citizens…”
  5. The mayor of Nice has always been interrested by hosting the WOG. Nice was a candidate for 2018 WOG. During the preselection, Nice got 9 votes, Grenoble 10 votes and Annecy 23 votes. Here an article about the PACA region project at the beginning of the year (2034 or 2038 at that time !) https://sportetsociete.org/2023/01/14/jo-2034-2038-renaud-muselier-reitere-son-ambition-pour-les-alpes-du-sud/ It is explained that they will have to make a choice between Marseille and Nice. The history of the 2018 candidacy is also recapped. Some interresting comments in 2008 (google transaltion from this article): In an interview for “Corse Matin” in September 2008, the three-time Olympic Champion of the 1968 Olympic Games notably explained: Annecy and Grenoble have enormous assets to showcase, but Nice has no less. On the contrary. Nice has its image of prestige and light. An exceptional site already equipped with all the major infrastructures in terms of transport, accommodation and know-how in terms of tourist reception. The Winter Olympics involve 3,500 athletes, 8,000 journalists and around a million and a half spectators: the Côte d’Azur knows how to manage that. And everyone is aware of it. But Nice has another card in its game. A secret card. That of surprise. The capital of the Côte d'Azur has a real high country, a very old Alpine tradition, real know-how in winter sports that goes back a long way. In Nice and on the Côte d’Azur, everyone knows it. Beyond that, maybe not. Hence certainly the totally ridiculous feeling that Nice's candidacy for these Winter Olympics is preposterous.
  6. Hockey will not be in the new convention center like I thought it could be. it will be the IBC. it is now needed not one new ice rink, but two ice rinks! here the updated map with figure skating / short track in the Acropolis exhibition center and a new extended green corridor up to it. https://nicepresse.com/nice-de-nouveaux-visuels-et-details-sur-lextension-de-la-coulee-verte-en-images/ Here the updated map:
  7. I now understand how figure skating can be set up in the Acropolis center. There are actually 2 parts in this center. A convention center which is currently destroyed and an exhibition center which is not destroyed. A 10000 seats ice rink will be set up in this exhibition center like for the 2000 an 2012 world championships.
  8. https://sportetsociete.org/2023/12/02/jo-2030-la-carte-des-alpes-francaises-provoque-deja-des-remous/ Google translation: Olympic Games 2030: The map of the French Alps is already causing a stir .... From Friday December 1, 2023, the project leaders announced that two of the resorts initially presented on the map of sites unveiled on November 7 should ultimately be excluded from the system, following the recommendations made by the Olympic institution to reduce the number of sites to be mobilized. Concretely, Val d'Isère (Savoie), for women's and men's alpine ski slaloms, and Isola 2000 (Alpes-Maritimes), for ski cross and snowboard cross are off the map and will therefore not host competitions, unless we consider a new overhaul of the project. ..... The announcement of this recalibration of the project – partly anticipated even before the unveiling of the map at the beginning of November – immediately aroused incomprehension on the part of the sites concerned, but also among Jean-Claude Killy, ski legend alpine, triple Olympic Champion at the 1968 Grenoble Games and honorary member of the IOC. As he announced today in a press release: I am saddened and scandalized by the peremptory decision to withdraw Val d’Isère from the 2030 Olympics. We have thus thrown away, without analysis, without consultation and without rational basis, an entire section of the history of ski racing. [Val d'Isère should remain on the map given] the excellence of its slopes and its all existing and well-established infrastructures, its organizational expertise, its strong history and its passion for ski racing and ski racing. 'Olympism. Denouncing a decision that he considers hasty, the man who was, for years, one of the influential members of the Olympic institution after having been a key player in the organization of the Albertville 1992 Games also clarified: It's not me, it's the other. This is what I hear today. No one, in all the exchanges I have had over the last few hours, takes responsibility for this. It seems that the dialogue which was supposed to last until spring has already ended. […] I think it is important to reconsider this decision. Respected voice of French sport although in retreat for several years, Jean-Claude Killy undoubtedly hopes – with this strong declaration – that the time granted by the IOC to the candidacy to finalize its general concept will be fully used to re-examine the conditions of reception of the tests.
  9. oups sorry...opening ceremony in AURA, closing ceremony in PACA
  10. AURA and PACA had each their own project. They were convinced by David Lappartient (NOC) to merge their project. The deal is: same number of medals in each area, opening ceremony in PACA, closing ceremony in PACA.
  11. In the feasibility assesment file, it's witten: TBC: existing abroad oval or temporary oval
  12. Why do you say that? In my mind, the plan is to go to Germany or the Netherlands
  13. Ah, but that only applies to Switzerland, NOT France. If Isola 2000 and Val d'Isère are included, it's pretty much the same.
  14. If Isola 2000 and Val d'Isère are included, it's pretty much the same.
  15. french alps I read this one carefully and I must say I don't find it really serious. the venue masterplan plan is not the right one. Val d'Isère and Isola 2000 are missing. Figure skating / short track are located in "palais des expositions Acropolis" which is currently being destroyed! (and will be replaced by a garden). I'm still wondering where it will finally be... there is no study on snow cover in 2030. (many people are wondering about this, legitimately)
  16. Finally, it seems Isola2000 and Val d'Isère are still in the bid I don't think this feasibility-assessment file is really up to date https://www.bfmtv.com/cote-d-azur/replay-emissions/bonsoir-cote-d-azur/c-est-quelque-chose-d-incroyable-isola-2000-devrait-accueillir-des-epreuves-des-jo-2030_VN-202311300684.html “It’s something incredible”: Isola 2000 should host 2030 Olympic events https://www.francetvinfo.fr/sports/sports-d-hiver/ski-alpin/jo-d-hiver-2030-en-france-c-est-une-reconnaissance-pour-val-d-isere-et-les-alpes-francaises_6215094.html 2030 Winter Olympics in France: “It’s recognition” for Val d’Isère and the French Alps
  17. A new Venue Masterplan can be seen in this file: Isola 2000 (initially planned for Ski/Snowboard cross and quite far from Nice) has been removed Val d'Isère (initially planned for Slalom apine skiing and quite far from Méribel/Courchevel) has been removed

  19. Looking at this file, I'm really surprised by the the ice venues in Nice page 24. The first one, Acropolis, is being destroyed! https://nicepresse.com/photos-nice-fin-2023-ou-en-sommes-nous-de-la-demolition-dacropolis/ And what are they going to do with 2 new ice rinks ?
  20. Sorry , I just wanted to show how an indoor stadium was turned into a swimming pool, trying to imagine how it might be for an indoor stadium turned into an ice rink. I guess it could be quite the same, a skating rink for competition on one half of the field, a stand in the middle and another ice rink for warming up on the other half of the field. Starting from a 32,000 seats stadium , it is obtained a 17000 seats swimming pool. So it can be imagine that, starting from the 50,000 seats Friens Arena, it would be obtained an ice rink with about 25000 seats.
  21. exactly, but it's quite smart to take advantage of all these projects that were started before and to seize the opportunity to host the Olympic Games. The only project that must be considered with regard to the Olympics is the new ice rink, precisely because it had not been planned before. The famous 5% to build! In the same way, the mayor of Nice was smart enough to add a snow venue (ski/snowboard cross) in the Nice hub by taking advantage of the developments decided last year for Isola 2000 ski resort . https://www.lefigaro.fr/nice/hotels-quatre-etoiles-nouvelle-residence-pres-de-nice-isola-2000-fait-sa-mue-en-vue-des-jo-d-hiver-2030-20231109
  22. I confirm there will be 2 pools "We are going to install two temporary swimming pools of 50 meters by 25, one for the competition and the other for the warm-up, which will be placed on the field"
  23. This is a 32000 seats rugby indoor stadium (Paris La Defense Arena) And the way in which swimming is planned in Paris 2024 (17,000 seats). Nothing else in this stadium (maybe another pool for training)
