Well. While the porridge cooks, my preliminary review… ‘Loved the initial segment/s, so fun, and great Italian vibes. Mariah? Meh. A bit robotic and lifeless to me. The poetry, interpretive dance, rings? All a bit same-same. A bit of a letdown after the quirky opening number.

I don’t have any great knowledge of copyright snd trademark law, so can anyone explain what extra protections pasting the ™ symbol on anything give? Surely they can re-submit existing trademark protections anywhere they’re in danger of lapsing, and the IOC has long been notorious anyway for being extra litigious in protecting their copyright for symbols and footage. Back in my working days, we’d often get requests from major companies- I’m talking the likes of IBM and Apple - to use the ™ symbol anytime we mentioned their company name or their products in our stories. We’d just tell them to go jump - it wasn’t our style, or any media organisation’s style, to pander to their corporate pretensions.

I hope not. I loved Paris 2024, but if the YOGs have any relevance at all. It’s for the smaller cities and countries. Paris has nothing to prove.
