  1. I don't want to start a fight by any means, I'm just wanting to give my two cents. The way things are going, the Olympics won't be around in 20 years, maybe even sooner. All because the Europeans would rather keep people subservient to the state rather than encourage initiative among kids. The same people demanding never ending pensions for video games and drug obsessed slackers which no one can afford are the same ones who whine and cry about hosting a sporting event. Have all those who hate the Olympics ever realized, if you don't like, then don't watch them?
  2. I'm willing to bet that if all goes as expected, the U.S. and Canada beating the living daylights out of everyone else in women's hockey, then the odds grow that women's hockey will be booted out of the Games after 2014, though the IOC has no problem with the Chinese monopoly of table tennis and badminton in the Summer Games.
  3. That's just unbelievable. Only almost 20 years after it built, they're going to tear it down? That's the problem with pro sports nowadays. Billionaire owners now treats stadia as dispensable toys that can be replaced at a whim. And it's taxpayers that pay the price, though not as much as having to pay for government's unsustainable spending addictions, but that's beside the point. Look at some of the great stadia that have been around for decades, or even longer. Allen Fieldhouse at KU, Cameron Indoor Stadium at Duke (whom we beat last night, Rock Chalk,) Lambeau Field at Green Bay, MCG in Melbourne, Lord's in London, Notre Dame Stadium, Santiago Bernabeu, Camp Nou, San Siro, Old Trafford, Maracana, Madison Square Garden, Bryant Denny Stadium at Alabama, and I could keep going. What a shame.
  4. My family has a strong military tradition, and for Obama and his Marxist cohorts to shut down our memorials to our fallen heroes using the "shutdown" as an excuse is beyond reprehensible. He has got to go.

      Seriously? Is that true?

  5. I'm a little steamed that no one from KU was chosen to compete at the Games, all the while KSTATE's women's volleyball team is representing the U.S, and their former men's basketball coach Frank Martin is an assistant on the U.S. men's team. Even on the international stage, Kansas Jayhawks get screwed and KSTATE Wildcats reap glory, and I'm sick of it.
  6. I also think of my late dad and grandfather for their service, and how much they meant to me. R.I.P Dad and Fado

  7. On this Memorial Day, I cannot say Thank You enough to all of our men and women in uniform for their sacrifice and bravery.

  8. Congrats to the Louisville Cardinals, 2013 NCAA Basketball National Champions

  9. Celebrating Easter with Mom, and thrilled for Wichita State in the Final Four! Bring on Duke or Louisville!

  10. First, let me start out be saying I don't like ceremonies, most of which have nothing to do with slam dunks or power plays or world records. Second, I probably should have said this earlier. While I don't like ceremonies (The Olympics are a sporting event first, and I prefer the sports events,) I did find it hilarious that they threw in a clip from The Cosby Show in the Franky and June part. That is one of my favorites shows of all time, and I met Bill Cosby back in 1997 when he performed at KSTATE University in Manhattan, Kansas. "Wear when I'm dead." "Take the sunglasses off.....put the sunglasses back on."
  11. As a Kansas fan, I will be hoping that Oregon can beat the you know what out of Kstate. I'm sick and tired of hearing how perfect they are in everything while my Kansas Jayhawks never do anything right (yes, our athletic department is a joke, but we're always good in men's basketball, except in March.) I've got Alabama winning a close one. Roll Tide.
  12. I was there, and I can definitely say these were really great Games. The atmosphere was unlike anything I've ever experienced (and I was at the Kansas-Missouri game at Arrowhead in 2007 when we were ranked #2 and they were #3.) It was one supersized party, something I had never been to until February. I'll never forget being downtown whenever Canadian athlete won a medal, particularly a gold. And what I will really never forget is the fact that the people of Vancouver, British Columbia and Canada were willing to let me in to partake in this once in a lifetime opportunity, and frankly my debt of gratitude to the people of Canada may never be paid off.
  13. It's on the US version of the Vancouver 2010 online store, look at the bottom... http://www.vancouver2010.com/store-us/collectibles/publications/catcollectibles-catpublications-p1.html
  14. If you could, please send to me as well. I'm not into ceremonies whatsoever, but my Mom is, and I figured she might like the CTV broadcast.
  15. I'll definitely get an Ovechkin jersey, along with....well, I'll basically be buying a whole lot of stuff there, assuming I get to Vancouver, and if I do, I do plan to visit The Bay multiple times during the Games.
  16. I suppose this was bound to happen, an Olympics happening in an extremely left wing liberal city. At the same time, I imagine protesting is all these people have to look forward to, since they don't want to work and want everything handed to them on a silver platter. They're slackers, that's what they are. They want everyone to be as miserable as they are.
  17. I'll try to post updates when I can. I plan to do this to keep my coworkers at the Northrock in the know on the goings on with my trip, assuming I get there.
  18. I got my email this morning, saying my shipment should arrive on the 15th, but I'll be at work at the Northrock Theatre that afternoon, and seeing that I'm required to give my signature, I'll likely get the shipment on the 16th, my next day off.
  19. Ditto. I booked my accommodations in June to stay in Whistler at Mountainside Lodge. It was pretty pricey, but at that point I had my doubts about whether anything else would open up, so I just went with the Mountainside right there.
  20. It's great for rugby to get in the Olympics, countries like Samoa, Fiji and Tonga now have a legitimate shot at a medal, since they have 1 medal all time between them (a silver for Tonga in boxing in the ATL in 1996.)
  21. I don't think they'll be offended at all, since the last time I heard he was in charge of a company that mass produces spam email. That's quite an accomplishment, to be the most hated person in 2 countries. Anyways, on topic, I'm looking forward to meeting some Aussies there, it would be a good chance to talk footy in the land of hockey.
  22. The U.S. squad will be rather young in Vancouver, so a medal isn't likely. To me the strongest squads have to be Russia and the home team, but Sweden has been overlooked honestly.
  23. Since I'll be staying in Whistler, I'll be using Sea to Sky every day, though it won't be that quiet. I just hope the lanes they have will at least be sufficient.
  24. True, true. Granted shuttling between Van. and Whistler is going to be a bit of a pain, but I'd rather be doing this than having to deal with irate customers at the theatre who complain about everything and threaten you over trivial matters (The popcorn isn't fresh enough! Why don't you have Pepsi? Why is there no sound on the preshow?)
  25. Thanks to the generosity of my uncle and grandmother, I have reeled in quite a haul. Here is what I have: Feb 12-Opening Ceremony (1,300 for a ticket!!!! OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!!) Feb 13-Alpine Skiing-men's downhill women's hockey-Canada vs. Slovak Republic Feb 14-speed skating-women's 3,000 Feb 15-speed skating-men's 500m Feb 16-biathlon-women's 10k pursuit and men's 12.5k pursuit men's hockey-Canada vs. Norway Feb 17-men's hockey-Finland vs. Belarus Sweden vs. Germany Czech Republic vs. Slovak Republic Feb 18-men's hockey-Canada vs. Switzerland speed skating-women's 1000m Feb 19-men's hockey-Belarus vs. Sweden Czech Republic vs. Latvia Feb 20-Alpine Skiing-women's super G Speed skating-men's 1500m Feb 21-men's hockey-Sweden vs. Finland Russia vs. Czech Republic Feb 22-women's hockey-semifinal 2 curling-men's qualifiers Feb 23-figure skating-women's short program (I know I lost my credibility by getting this, but I promised my mom and grandmother that I would go to this for them) speed skating-men's 10,000m final Feb 24-speed skating-women's 5000m final men's hockey-2 quarterfinals Feb 25-women's hockey-gold medal final Feb 26-Alpine skiing-women's slalom Feb 28-Closing Ceremony All this cost me a bunch, but considering this may be the only Olympics I ever get to go to, I better take advantage of it and see as many events as I possibly can.
