    It's a shame that fewer people are using the site. I used to love coming on this site and contributing. Then I was targeted with some quite vile behaviour that was a thinly veiled personal attack designed to bring me down a peg or two. I found the whole thing quite traumatic and it never felt like a safe space again after that. That's why I don't contribute anymore. It was supposed to be a bit of fun and then suddenly it wasn't anymore. I pop by every so often and its nice to see some of the names of good people I remember from back then.

    Seems like last nights ceremony went down quite well on here. I thought it was really bad. It really felt like they could have come up with that plan in a few hours. After such an incredible games the ceremonies really let them down for me. The closing of the London Paralympics was basically a concert but at least things happened on a large scale and on an intimate scale. The Paralympic Opening for me was the only ceremony I would consider going back to. The LA handover was awful too, like they had spent all the budget on Tom Cruise. At least the athletes got a good party but watching on TV after seeing the cool light show for 5 minutes I wanted a lot more, I wanted some moments. The only bit I thought worthy of the games was the atheletes blowing out the flame. Great games Paris, the sport, the crowds, the venues and the city were outstanding. The ceremonies not so much.

    I enjoyed this ceremony on the whole. It was I had been expecting all along and only just got, a very classy, styalised French look. The paceing as people have said was woeful as was the sound. That wandering about with the torch with the torch holding villagers being moved from here to there, up some stairs, down some stairs made no sense and took way too long. The first time I have ever shouted at the TV "Just light the bloody thing!" in any ceremony I have ever watched. They just needed to edit all the segments down. But overall the best Paris ceremony yet in my opinion. It looked great on TV which the Olympic opening never really did. Ranked 3rd behind London with its story and spectacle in first, and Rio in second.

    I just watched the Mountain Biking. OMG, he came back from a puncture, it was incredible. Pity the French crowd booed him as he beat a Frenchman but a well deserved gold! There was some Pidcock chanting so that was nice.

    I wrote a whole list of why I was so disapointed by the ceremony but its all been said really. I had such expectations and I was so, so disapointed. I'm glad the French are happy with their show thats what really counts but it really was a massive missed opportunity. Just heard it cost 3 x the cost of London's opening which I still can't believe. Fingers crossed for the closing!

    They pulled it back from the Abyss. Parts of that ceromony made me angry and confussed. The last few minutes saved it in my opinion.

    Im so confussed. Why have the eiffel tower and put on such an amazing light show and then take the flame away on another long journey. Do it in front of the tower!! This better be worth it

    Yes, Someone said it on here after the London Ceremony its most important that the Brits were happy and we were so I guess it stands as long as the French are happy thats what counts

    It feels like the boring bit, the atheletes parade has been extended rather than made shorter. It just feels like a parade of athletes. I also keep feeling its what the opening ceremony of 'Jeux sans frontières' would look like if they bought it back : )

    Yep Camera work isnt helping. I think using the city as a stage just makes the stage too big.

    Enjoying the gold dance segment but the Can can was bad and so was the other dancing

    Im trying to stay positive but not feeling this at all, it feels really messy, it can only get better
