  1. Indianapolis is only good for the short course worlds, not the full Aquatics worlds. And the Aquatic center doesn't have to be enclosed, it just needs to exist. I'm surprised nothing like that exists in Southern California seeing as that swimming and water polo are so big in SoCal. Yes, the Foro Italico is the whole complex. P.S. the USOC Training Center in Chula Vista doesn't have Aquatics. It's cycling (I know for sure BMX since that became an Olympic sport), Rowing, and a couple or a few others, but no Aquatics.
  2. That would be wonderful, and I would be there, however, I think - and this has been discussed elsewhere on this site - that the U.S. simply lacks a comprehensive aquatics center able to host. Remember, that the Aquatics Championships are not just swimming - but diving, synchronized swimming, water polo and the open water marathon swim as well. We don't have anything like the Foro Italico in Rome, for instance (which was a beautiful setting to boot). So if the U.S. hosted, it would all have to be temporary, like the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in Long Beach, CA. But despite the record attendance, they still lost money. The only FINA Aquatics Worlds events the U.S. has hosted was the Masters Aquatics Championships in 2006, in Palo Alto, CA, at Stanford University (which is also not just swimming but all the other disciplines also as well). That was fine for the Masters Championships, which are decidedly lower key. But I'm not sure it would work for the senior Aquatics Championships. We also hosted the FINA Short Course Championships in 2004 in Indianapolis, but that was swimming only.
  3. Unless they are flying to LAX/SFO, in which case, JFK is their only choice if they want a non-stop and if they want three class service (First/Business/Coach).
  4. See this climate chart for precipitation data for Seattle for the months of July-August. As you see, Seattle has it's least amount of rainfall during those months. Seattle Climate Chart
  5. When was the last time you were in Seattle? In the Summer? And do you have any close friends who are born and bred Seattlites? Because I do. Baron- The San Francisco 2016 plan had a surprising number of events within the city's 7x7, 49 Square Miles. If SFO could probably do it, Seattle could too. And San Francisco would deal with it's infamous fog, so six of one, half a dozen of the other.
  6. Houston? Nasty. Get real, it's in Texas. Miami? Nope. Too oppressively hot, ugly unless you're at the beach. Philly? Too small and insignificant. Seattle would trump all three.
  7. Well at least SOMONE admits the "reputation" points are nothing but a grade school popularity contest. Somehow they are giving Rio a pass. Like, affirmative action for Olympic Bid Cities. Get off your crutch.
  8. I don't know, maybe you should explain this to Danny, one more time. Watching Danny jump up and down while his face turns red, and steam comes out of his ears is fun.
  9. Actually, all of Brazil is deluded, If you think Brazil won because it had the best bid. Brazil won for political reasons (and huge crying and whining by Brazil). The best thing is, that after 2016 it will probably be more than 100 years before Brazil hosts again. Just like Greece!
  10. Well first of all, Vancouver had no choice, they only had one indoor stadium. Secondly, you think the IOC "agreed" with Rio and "wanted" to change things. I think they "went along" with Rio, and the reasons are multi-faceted. I also think if any other city in the world proposed the idea, like Chicago, or New York, or London or Paris etc etc, it would never have passed muster. In essence, Rio has been "allowed" to bend the traditions while the IOC willfully looks the other way. P.S. Vancouver was only the first time an indoor stadium was used for OC's. Sapporo, Japan, used an outdoor stadium for OC's and an indoor stadium for CC's. Also remember that the Winter Games do A LOT of things differently, from the medals, to the medal ceremonies. SOG are much more rigid in tradition, as they are the original games.
  11. Let's hope not. What do you mean "Vancouver did it first"? There was only one stadium. Once again, let's hope not.
  12. Since when and why would the IAAF not care for the fact that the ceremonies were held in the same stadium as the Athletics competitions?
  13. Yeah I like San Francisco. The local city politics there are horrible, though. I like the Birds Nest. I like the water cube. I like Beijings OC's. I liked Athens' OC. I like the medal ceremony music from L.A. '84 (now an Olympic classic) I like Cadbury chocolate. I Like Bossa Nova. I like Ocean Liners/Cruise Ships. I like train travel. I love Apple/Macs. I love Central Park. I like riding the subway. I love California (and miss it). I like Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora. I like Polynesian Tropical Islands. I love swimming. I love the aquatic sports. I love Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disney Sea. I love the Polynesian Resort at WDW (though it's way overpriced). I love restaurants and food. I love wine: Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Syrah, in that order, are my favorites. ...and more. There are lots of things I like.
  14. Atlanta was complete ****, you're absolutely right. But hey, imagine how Munich must feel then. Just remember, you brought that up, not me. P.S. I don't live in San Francisco. P.P.S. When you have ONE stadium hosting all of the Athletics competitions and the OC's and CC's and is also the home of the cauldron, then you will have a true Olympic Stadium.
  15. ^^Totally worthless and completely invalid reasons. ^^Reasons that have logic behind them, even though I despise the idea. Neither. Rio has muddled it, but that was their own doing. It will be known as the games that didn't really have a true Olympic stadium. I agree with RobH.
  16. That's because the IOC knows how fragile Brazil hosting is anyway. They figure you've already got your hands too full as it is. Oh excuse me, I should have said "Rio", not Brazil.
  17. This place is FULL of thin skins, particularly in the Rio 2016 forum. Say that's it's raining in Rio today and they cry like babies.
  18. Who's problem is that? Not the World's. It's YOURS. (Who's should read "Whose")
  19. I would share *nothing* with New Jersey. That's would be like South Korea sharing the games with North Korea!
  20. The OV on the Jersey side of what?
  21. Actually, it does look like it's semi, and frankly, a naked ice hockey player statue is utterly ridiculous. I have no problem with penises.
