  1. Medals and motto por the games were unveiled to day: RIO 2016: UM MUNDO NOVO A NEW WORLD UN MONDE NOUVEAU UN NUEVO MUNDO
  2. Remember in this forum was shared a picture of what was going to be, suppossedly, parto of the London 2012 OC ... and it was not real...
  3. The other posibility for the water, is that they are not "projections", but a screen on the florr as it used on the 2011 Winter Asian Games OC in Astana.... Take in consideration that Panasonic will strongly support technologies in this ceremony Sth like this.... ???? If there is a water flood in the field, it will be another "water ceremony" that started in Sydney, continued in Athens and repplied in Rio 2007 Pan Am OC, 2007 Shangai Special Olympics OC, Singapore 2010 OC, Kazan 2013 OC, Baku 2015 OC .....
  4. Todat, at 4:30 pm California Time, is the Centennial Copa America kick off. The opening match is between USA and Colombia and previosly to the match the Opening Ceremony will take place The ceremony is produced by Five Currents and there will be a musical show: J Balvin, Jason Derulo, MAGIC!, Pitbull and Becky G. are to perform... The site is the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
  5. Look at this... Those seem to be the model for the medals in these Olympics... Source: http://www.tsf.pt/economia/interior/estojo-das-medalhas-olimpicas-do-rio-2016-e-feito-em-portugal-5199532.html Case of Olympic medals from 2016 is made in Portugal The little-day start of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, there is a Portuguese company that has spent the last weeks in real rush and has guaranteed place on the podium.
  6. If we are in democracy we have the right the make and tell the opinion.. but I totally agree with Ikarus, Lefttist use democracy until it's agains on them. When not they make scandal and try to shut up everyone... We do not need to be Brazilian to have an opinion. Ikarus is from Venezuela, a country totally devastated by the left policies and politicians... and in Chile we have Bachelet who is on the head of, by far, the worst goverment in years.... Anyway, it's not a forum about politics, but the Olympics....
  7. I have the feeling they keep a surprise. They can not be so predictable of having the cauldron in that place... (Strongly resembling Vancouver) May be there is a second cauldron in the Olympic park or sth like this... Really, I don't like the idea of having the cauldron in such place
  8. http://esportes.terra.com.br/lance/rio-2016-prefeitura-confirma-que-pira-olimpica-ficara-na-praca-maua,8a24c7529239d22e5b67ea8e1005c3828xffa2d0.html One of the biggest unknowns regarding the Olympic Games in Rio, in short, has been resolved. Yesterday, the city government confirmed that the Olympic cauldron will be at Praça Mauá, in the port area of Rio's capital. This will be only the second time in the history of the event in which the symbol will be displayed outside of an Olympic stadium, and the first one took place in a winter race in Sochi (RUS) in 2014. The Olympic Stadium Rio Games, Engenhão even not receive the ceremonies of opening and closing, as is tradition, as they will be held at Maracanã. The revitalization of the port area was one of the main works of legacy to the Olympics, with the creation of the Museum of Tomorrow, the Conde Orla and own Praça Mauá. The whole facility was called Porto Maravilha and during the Games, will be transformed into an "Olympic Boulevard" with the installation stage for concerts and big screens to display competitions. This will be one of the "Live Sites", implemented during the event, with free activities open to the public. The other will be installed in Madureira Park
  9. Rio's Mayor Eduardo Paes has confirmed that the cauldron will be moved, after the lighting in Maracana, to the Olympic Boulevard in the Port Zone... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAYpznrRjyY
  10. I agree they do not indicate much... I don't think they are preparing a "Rio Glastonbury" becaiue of the grass and flowers.... If it indicates something, it shoud be the "floresta" from the Amazonas .... Or may the claudron would be cover with grass and flowers???? Indeed they are not flowers, but people jumping or dancing
  11. MMmmm... they don't reveal anything--- Just remember the tickets for London OC that the cauldron was drawn on them and, despite of speculations, we didin't know it until it was revealed in the ceremony itself....
  12. Indeed cameras are never allowed in dress rehearsals. Anyway, we have seen entire sequence of the ceremonies previous to the day itself due to obstinate people who wants to show the "exclusive footage". For Dress rehearsals in London (which I could see almost the entire ceremony performances two days before the opening day on YouTube) the screens showed #KeepTheSurprise (or sth like this) ... For Sochi ceremonies we could see the entire Mascot and Troika segments. Beside the ligthing of the cauldron was made in an open space, it was almos imposible to keep the secret. Remember how they screamed about the "filtered footages" of Beijing opening ceremony caught by a Korean TV channel., I clearly remember that the TV news in my country aired long segments of Atlanta '96 dress reharsals (the cheerleader and the Temple of Zeus sections), but four years later in Sydney no cameras were alloded inside the stadium. Today that's even more difficult having cameras everywhere, Instagram and YouTube. It's just a matter of cooperation....
  13. MMmmmm .. but in Military Games we didn't see anything new: Projections shows and usual performances. I am waiting that Rio can show something new, since the Summer Olympics ceremonies set the tendencies for the next 4 years ceremonies worldwide. Athens, for instance. set technology. Beijing the mass performances. Vancouver the projections shows. London set the video inclusion in the ceremony (and the contdown video, as well).... And Rio??? That's the eager question!!!
  14. Please, this is not a forum about politics, but the Olympics themselves....
  15. It was more than predictable.... Taking in consideration Brazil current political situation. Indeed, and how the things are going not just in Brazil but in the world, any torch relay is going to be be "in peace" from now on,,, Just remember the chaotic relay for Beijing Olympics, probably the most interrupted relay ever so far...
  16. Even in compactes spaces, having good ideas you can see a pretty spectacular show! Just remember: Torino stage that had a stage that even did not take the entire field, Athens closing which was a sort of wheat spiral and a long narrowed stage where everything happend just around it, Shangai Special Olympics opening, wchich was a sort of narrow cross over the field... and the show was amazing!, Beijing closing ceremony which had a central circular stage where the action was just concentrated over there, Salt Lake 2002 having a central rounded shape ice rink with two narrow entrances in every side... the show was one of the best in Winter Games history and LA cosing where the central stage concentrated all the action.... Space is not the topic, but the ideas themselves...
  17. Despite they were regional games, the Pan Am ceremonies were truly spectacular... Indeed, they were the first time the Pan Am had an Olympic scale ceremony.... Anyway, in the Olympics he have seen more compacted spaces such as in Turin or Salt Lake ceremonies or in LA closing, even in Athens closing...
  18. What about a completely mobile cauldron over a track or over those giants parade floats used in the carnival moving all around the city for 17 days .... That sounds crazy, but Brazilians ARE craaazyy!!! hahaha LOL
  19. Some flag bearers that we already know up to here: RAFAEL NADAL, SPAIN - TENNIS FEDERICA PELLEGRINI - ITALY - SWIMMING LUIS SCOLA - ARGENTINA - BASKETBALL MARTINA CAIRONI - ITALY (Paralympic Games) - ATHLETICS PADDY BARNES - IRELAND - BOXING
  20. Too close to Rio Olympics and still fresh in memory 2007 Pan Ams.
  21. Every Christmas time, there is a floating Christmas Tree on Lagoa Rodrigo Freitas... I have always thought that the Olympic cauldron should be put on that site, near Ipanema Beach, which is an elegant, too visited and beautiful place in Rio. This Christmas Tree is one of the largest in the world---- What about a "floating cauldron" this time? One that could get similar characterisctic of the Christmas Tree: near 80 meters tall and iluminated around... Should be a feasible posibility...
  22. By the way Flag Bearers... In Chile, the COCH (Chilean Olympic Committee) has deisgnated 3 women who wil go on popular votation to select the bearer in Rio 2016. Those 3 women are well recognized Chilean athletes: NATALIA DUCÓ - Shot put FRANCISCA CROVETO - Skeet shooting ERIKA OLIVERA - Marathon
