Rome 2024
barrack replied to baron-pierreIV's topic in (Withdrawn) Rome, Italy 2024 Olympic Games Bid
That glimpse of the Olympic Village leaves something to be desired. Is that site historic in anyway? If so, the video didn't make that clear. Otherwise, the area looks like a beautiful sailing venue. -

I think you summed up well what I was trying to point out with the pre-schooler's logo.

Just for some fun: http://www.raischstudios.com/preschool-tokyo2020-logo I meant to add the comment that pretty much any emblem design seems to "work" if you drop in some branding. In that sense, these pre-school designs work out pretty well. ;-)

Ha. So wherever your images are being hosted, the majority of them are blocked at my office so I'm reading this thread all confused. I'll have to check back in later to see these pics.

Quick... everyone make a design and copyright it so that whatever they come up with will look similar to yours!

I'm not trying to make a joke... but I don't see the light blue text you're talking about.

I'm surprised that the IOC hasn't yet taken action against that furniture company. Shining Batu looks great! Is Shining Batu a brand of feminine hygiene product?

Comments on online newspaper articles are generally not the best place to look for positive feedback on anything. Think about social media, a post could have well over 10000 likes or shares, but 35 comments, all negative. My general rule online (outside of forums), is avoid reading comments. I say this with complete indifference to Toronto's bid or the people here who support it.

A 3 Year Old Explains Olympic Logos
barrack replied to barrack's topic in General Olympics Discussion
She got Pyeong Chang right, too. Though it wasn't too exciting. "Snowflake and a house." -
I just across this video which I think is silly, but does present something to think about when it comes to design. I actually liked her reaction to the London emblem. She interpreted it as something exciting and vibrant, which is what I think London was trying to do. Anyway, here's the video. Here's link if embed doesn't work:

The way American cities go about is almost always a "now or never" scenario. Except for LA, of course, which is always ready. I think this is because a lot can happen in 7 years, which is comes to political will, infrastructure needs, etc.

For London 2012, because of various media rights exclusive to cable providers in the USA, the only was I could watch online was via a tunneler to European broadcasts. It was so much better than NBC. BBC was my first go to. Then I discovered the raw feed, which was perfect.

My pet peeve is less about the Olympics, more about NBC. It's just constant commentary on everything: sports, ceremonies, everything. JUST LET ME WATCH THE EVENT FFS. It's so hard to appreciate the ceremony when I have to listen to someone babble on about the costume designer's upbringing or the number of volunteer performers. I'd rather look it up later and enjoy the show.

Kelowna's looks great! What host city do you think it'd apply to? I cannot unsee that. lol. Thanks.

First GB European Games logo comp - submissions thread

Oooooh! I just saw this thread. Woohoo! I'll get crackin' this weekend. -
Here's one that I felt had an Olympic feel to it. It actually served as my inspiration for my design for the Tokyo 2020 logo competition. I liked the geometry, symmetry and colors.
