  1. Comments on online newspaper articles are generally not the best place to look for positive feedback on anything. Think about social media, a post could have well over 10000 likes or shares, but 35 comments, all negative. My general rule online (outside of forums), is avoid reading comments. I say this with complete indifference to Toronto's bid or the people here who support it.
  2. Here's a better link: http://www.jpnsport.go.jp/newstadium/Portals/0/NNSJ/en/finalists.html
  3. Wouldn't altering the design cost even more money? Isn't that what happened with the London Aquatics Centre?
  4. Depending how it's done, I bet some Christian countries would also complain.
  5. I have no doubt that Rio and Brazil will ensure a safe Olympics and World cup, but they will be sure to protect *all* visitors, not just Westerners. I have no doubt that Brasil and Rio will host an exciting and safe World Cup and Olympics. However, let's just be clear that they will be concerned for the safety of all their visitors, not just Westerners.
  6. I don't have the time to read through all 63 pages of replies to this thread, but... Was it just me or was the Sochi segment neither about Sochi or Russia. Just Moscow. I can't wait until Moscow 2014!
  7. If anything, the recession should be a better reason to build. They should be able to land a construction bid at a fraction of the price during the boom.
  8. I love the Beijing Torch Relay plane. That's probably the best--just a hair above Vancouvers. The rest of the Beijing planes are pretty dull. The Vancouver hangar is great!
  9. I remember Delta had some nice ones for Salt Lake 2002. Did Alitalia do anything for Torino 2006? I can't remember. The Air Canada plane looks great! I was going to post these myself, but Mr. X must also visit Airliners.net as frequently as I.
  10. same with the pentagon. 3 on top, 5 below.
  11. well said! i actually do come on here less mainly because of the likes of jim jones or zenica. their 'participation' in discussions usually leaves me with a headache. i haven't said much on vancouver's progress (everything looks fine to me, well done so far) but i can see that the non-stop roof topic is getting old. now i just hop on and check topics for pretty renders and that's about it. shame.
  12. the opening ceremony ticket looks fantastic. i love the juxtaposed images of what seems to be the sea.
  13. Neither of which are big stadiums.
