  1. Bassist Guy Pratt revealed that the highly-anticipated collaboration will play Led Zeppelin's piece 'Whole Lotta Love'. It has been reported sometime ago that Leona Lewis will appear at the closing ceremony of Beijing Olympic Games on August 24, performing a duet with Led Zeppelin's guitarist, Jimmy Page. It is now revealed that the spectacular collaboration will present a version of Zeppelin's 1969 song "Whole Lotta Love". The play set was supposed to be a top secret but it was unveiled by one of the musicians who will support them in the performance. Bassist Guy Pratt who has worked with numerous rock stars, spilled on his blog, "You may also be interested to know that when Jimmy Page and Leona Lewis perform Whole Lotta Love at the end of the Olympics, that's me playing bass on it." Still, there is no confirmation from the show's organizer regarding the song. "Whole Lotta Love" appeared in the legendary rock band's second album "Led Zeppelin II" and was ranked no. 75 by Rolling Stone in its 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that David Beckham too will appear at the closing ceremony, arriving on top of a red double-decker bus and kick soccer balls to children representing all the countries competing in the games. He, Leona and Jimmy all represent London as the next host of the games in 2012.
  2. Maybe it will just be an armoured van containing GB's spectacular medal haul with 2012 British coppers as outriders all doing a lap of honour ; )
  3. The UK currently has a taste of the Orient Menu but no mention of the Beijing games and have a glasses give away but they are not Olympic related. I have been really suprised, McD's usually make a big splash of the olympics here but this time they havent at all, I wasnt sure if it was because of the difficulties leading to the games, with the torch relay and everything. Its been the same with Coca-cola as well, I bought a can the other day it carried a competition and carried the torch relay logo but no Beijing 2008 logo, the London 2012 logo instead, whats going on?
  4. Just read this on the London 2012 Blog about Foster Mark Foster to carry the flag for Team GB The 2012 Editor, 6 Aug 2008 Swimmer Mark Foster has been selected to carry the flag for Team GB at the Beijing 2008 Opening Ceremony. At 38 Mark is the oldest member of the Swimming squad - this will be Mark's 50th Olympic Games. London 2012 wishes Mark all the best... His 50th Games!!!!!!!!!!! He'll need a wheelchair me thinks!
  5. Are they in formation to look like the birds nest? Not sure why the colour though?
  6. I know what you mean, but I know I will watch, its sad but true. We all have to do what is right I suppose. I like it how people use a topic about human rights and the Beijing Games to do a bit of London bashing though, jesus christ.
  7. Here are some screen shots I hope, I aint very technical Shot at 2008-08-05
  8. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/7543991.stm If that doesnt work I will give up, its nearly Friday anyway In the segment they were all in lime green costumes standing on each others shoulders
  9. oh thats a pain, I wont describe it cause people may not want to know but there wasnt all that much new in it, just one segment. I hope it does get released so others can see it.
  10. Bit of ceremony footage here, not much but a segment I have not seen anywhere else as yet Dont click if u dont want to see, this is an official release apparently http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/7543991.stm
  11. I presume the BBC are showing the whole thing and not having adverts means we get the whole thing. Its on at midday which is a bummer but I've taken the day off LOL
  12. WOW, looks stunning, I dont want to see anymore its a great glimpse, roll on Friday, I've had to take the day off LOL
  13. Very brave of the BBC not going for the obvious clips of city, clips of atheletes, clips of children laughing. Showing the characters running, diving, pole vaulting gets across the sports element, it is a tad scary in places, but bravo BBC for doing something different. What they gonna do for 2012!!!!
  14. Not sure if this is the best place to put this but there are some great computer simulations of fly pass's of the olympic venues, puts Beijing more into perspective http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/7521138.stm
  15. THE BBC ARE LOOKING FOR FOLKS FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO APPEAR ON THEIR SHOWS VIA WEBCAM, HERE IS THE LINK IF YOU ARE INTERESTED http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/7497182.stm
  16. Just read on the official Beijing website they have released some details on the fireworks apparently they will be making the olympic rings out of fireworks, oooh ahhh. And launching thousands of pictures of smiling faces on fireworks into the sky above Beijing.
  17. Im very impressed with the BBC, looks like they will be using the characters created by Gorillaz creator Jamie Hewlett for the Beijing Olympics. The characters are from an Opera of the Monkey story being performed at the Royal Opera House London. Im very excited hes a great illustrator, meet the characters here, they are going to be the faces of the games on the BBC. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/7410444.stm And u can download your own monkey to ya pooters to keep u updated http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/monkey/7479984.stm Cant wait to see it on my TV screen
  18. Its a great view, studio space must be limited I would imagine the US would be there too as well as China obviously.
  19. Thought I'd post this link, It shows the view from the BBC studio in Beijing. What a view ; ) http://www.flickr.com/photos/bbcsport/sets...57605389298638/
  20. Personally I think the fact that its plain means it can have things projected onto it. One moment it could be the Earth, the next the sun or moon, then a lantern then random images making it numerous things rather than just a globe.
  21. I have been away for a week and just seen this pic, not sure if someone has suggested this as I cant be arsed to read all the way back but this is my thought. The actual cauldron is the bit nearest the edge of the roof this will in my opinion pivot until its upright on a hinge and overhang the stadium roof edge. But I think there is a secondary bit up there that will be lit from somewhere then move forward on a track, maybe this will look like a pheonix, this will travel forward and light the cauldron then move back to be removed leaving the actual cauldron burning. Has someone suggested this? Sorry if so, does it make sense?
  22. Slightly off point but I didnt know about that Aussie, Aussie, Aussie chat which I am presuming is Australian. Does it come from the old British chant Oggie, oggie, oggie?
