  1. I cant help but think at Birmingham 2022 Opening Ceremony we will see teenagers wearing multi coloured clothes, playing instruments made out of recycled plastic bottles and dustbin lids
  2. 'I'm back bitches' Decided to come out of posting retirement to give my verdict on these games. The sports side of it - first class A+ The ceremonies were the worst i have ever seen and that closing was a train wreck, easily the worst closing ceremony ever of all = Z- The Birmingham 2022 handover segment was the worst since Manchester's handover in KL 98. i didn't even watch until the end, i was that bored. Birmingham does not seem to have an identity and that shone through last night...
  3. Wasn't really sure where to put this, but this is going to be my last post here on the site. After 11 years I have decided that the passion for the site is no longer there. I just wanted to say thank you for the memories and I wish you all good health, wealth and lots of spectacular ceremonies to come... For my last post, after all my years of searching, I finally got my hands on the official DVD of the Sydney 2000 ceremonies that's my weekend sorted Thank You and Goodnight X
  4. The Gold Coast 2018 medals have been unveiled.
  5. I just have a feeling Ireland may get this....after all the headquarters of the rugby board are in Dublin, plus Irish rugby has been very impressive over the last few years. France its too soon since 2007. That said though South Africa would be very good if they can get their selfs together, ie Durban 2022. Personally i do think an Irish World Cup would have the better atmosphere but South Africa would have the best fit.
  6. Was probably all planned as up until then it was one of the most boring shows, they had to do something to try and save it.
  7. Glasgow saved the Commonwealth Games once, they can do it again. 4 years to build another athletes village.... plenty of areas needing regeneration.
  8. Congrats Davey... Couldn't bring myself to vote for my own, thought i would show some healthy sportsmanship...
  9. oh what the hell... think i will take part Now before you all get your knickers in a twist, this is not an original design but all you going to get
  10. Seems that all those years of alcohol and drugs etc are catching up with this generation of stars...
  11. Merry Christmas and a Happy Hogmanay to all
  12. I really do hope this takes off for you Rols. I am just not into it anymore unfortunately. The last year or so has just seen the site slowly demise to a shadow of its former self. Best of luck anyhow...
  13. the 2018 queens baton...form the elegance and design of glasgow's to this tripe
  14. Yeah i guess so, i think alot of the democrats issues was the message. popular and well literate as she is, mIchelle again represents the political elite and dynastic presidential family. I think the Canadian approach would work for them, someone young, attractive, full of ideas enthusiasm and relevant to all parts of american society.
  15. So looking towards 2020, who at this early stage would look like potential democratic challengers to Trump? Clinton again? Michelle Obama? a bush? Al Gore? Someone young?
  16. A very good piece on what went wrong for Clinton http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2016-37922959
  17. Glasgow host city logo has been unveiled.
  18. Watched my first Paralympic medal ceremony of the games tonight and i really really like the mascot soft toys with the coloured hair of the medals won....
  19. I can imagine it will just be titled, 'UEFA Euro 2020' perhaps the logo will just be a football with the colours of the flags of all the host countries.
  20. http://www.irishrugby.ie/ireland2023/venues/ This suggests that they plan to go it alone... It also helps their bid that they are hosting the 2017 Womens World Cup plus the IRB is headqurtered in Dublin
  21. I think Italy will be the frontrunner here, especially if Rome ditches its 2024 Olympics bid. They have the geographical location, the infrastructure, the stadia, the timezone and the potential of spreading the game further in the country. I hate the whole South Africa deserves it.....perhaps they will beg the IRB just like NZ did for 2011
  22. Hollywood great Gene Wilder has passed away at the age of 83 Starring in a number of well know films, for me he completely owned Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, one of my all time favourite movies...
  23. Both Edinburgh and Glasgow wanted to be the official bid for the 2014 games, with the Commonwealth Games federation of Scotland choosing Glasgow in the end, I would presume the same would happen in the event of dual interest from any English cities. I would expect tht interest would be at its highest over the next few months with the success of team GB in Rio.
  24. Sydney still in my mind. The umbrellas at the beginning, kylie minogue, the huge dancing dolls and lets not forget THAT fireworks display
