I agree with Rols and Robs here guys, as much as i would love a full bid book comp, i think that with the board as it is atm, something less time consuming, quicker and more fun for most people would be something like a logo comp or torch design etc.
The trouble with the world cup logo comp is that now that the logos are standardized to the trophy template, it does pose some issue around limits of design. After that higglty piggly, we dont know who we are so lets just have a mix of everything we can ever think of, Birmingham handover, perhaps 2026 logo comp for #BRUM lol might be a good starter. Plus there is always the Eurovision and WC 2018 sweepstake ( oh, its all happening since ive been back

Its been 6 months since anything was posted here and this site has been going down the gurgler for way to long now. Time to get our acts together and make this again the place where we can share our joy of all things Olympics and sporting events.
Shall we have a good old comp to get everyone's spark back? Logo design, Torch Design, full games bid?

With the XIst Commonwealth Games over i thought i would do a comparison between Glasgow and the Gold Coast to see who came out on top.
Baton - Glasgow
Mascot - Tie
Medals - Glasgow
Podium design - Glasgow
Medal ceremony music - Glasgow
Medal Ceremony outfits - Glasgow
Look of the games - Glasgow
Opening Ceremony - Gold Coast
Weather - Gold Coast (although it rained more than it did in Glasgow)
Outside event scenery - Glasgow

I don't see an issue with having the flame visit the previous host cities, its a way to keep that connection alive, a day in each city, then a really great domestic relay.

I just have a feeling Ireland may get this....after all the headquarters of the rugby board are in Dublin, plus Irish rugby has been very impressive over the last few years. France its too soon since 2007. That said though South Africa would be very good if they can get their selfs together, ie Durban 2022. Personally i do think an Irish World Cup would have the better atmosphere but South Africa would have the best fit.

I can imagine it will just be titled, 'UEFA Euro 2020' perhaps the logo will just be a football with the colours of the flags of all the host countries.

This suggests that they plan to go it alone...
It also helps their bid that they are hosting the 2017 Womens World Cup plus the IRB is headqurtered in Dublin

I think Italy will be the frontrunner here, especially if Rome ditches its 2024 Olympics bid.
They have the geographical location, the infrastructure, the stadia, the timezone and the potential of spreading the game further in the country.
I hate the whole South Africa deserves it.....perhaps they will beg the IRB just like NZ did for 2011

Both Edinburgh and Glasgow wanted to be the official bid for the 2014 games, with the Commonwealth Games federation of Scotland choosing Glasgow in the end, I would presume the same would happen in the event of dual interest from any English cities.
I would expect tht interest would be at its highest over the next few months with the success of team GB in Rio.

Its a shame that the outside cauldron sculpture doesnt seem to move...
Also what will happen to the Maracana Cauldron? Will it be moved to the Olympic Stadium for the athletics events and then moved back for the closing? or will it keep burning in the Maracana? or will it be put out to be relit just before the closing ceremony?

there has already been mentions of referendum in Northern Ireland regarding reunification with the Republic....Scotland will no doubt vote again in the next few years and well wales they should just have a referendum to join with England...

I guess it depends on how they are announcing the results. If it is like the general elections and the 2014 Scottish Referendum then they should announce each area, with the results coming in over the night.
If they just announce a general leave or remain outcome then they may wait until morning...

Just heard on the USA gymnastics show that the 2015 Gymnastics World Championships will be in Glasgow in late October.
Yeah Baron, The Championships will be at the Hydro Arena - Venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games Gymnastics competition. Glasgow also recently hosted the Para World Aquatic Champs.
Also will be the Davis Cup Semi final between GB and Australia at the Emirates Arena.
Since the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the sporting legacy for Glasgow has been very good...

England are more than capable of hosting the WC alone, but like recent tournaments, may use the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff.
