  1. The city's economic development committee will be voting on whether to continue its pursuit for the 2024 Olympics on Monday. One thing I agree with Michael Thompson is it will be challenging to get all levels of government on the same page at this time. Hopefully with elections coming this year that will change. http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2014/01/14/olympic_bid_back_on_toronto_council_agenda.html Initial cost figures by Ernst & Young has Toronto spending $3.3 billion to $6.9 billion.
  2. 2024 and 2028 will have a stiff competitor or two. I wouldn't say 2028 would be easier for Toronto to win. 2024 you'll have very stiff competition from Paris, the USA and South Africa. Then you'll face the losers from this batch again in 2028. I think it'll be the same. You won't know unless you enter and from the sounds of it the City of Toronto is still seriously interested in bidding for 2024.
  3. Portlands, Downsview or Woodbine. Jon Bon Jovi has told ESPN he is not going to pursue the Bills.
  4. He always does from what I remember. Why do you care?lol
  5. If Toronto is going to build a 80,000+ seater stadium, the planners better take into account what other uses this stadium will serve for the city and that includes the Olympics. It's no secret Toronto really wants to host the Olympics in the near future so it only makes sense to have this stadium work. With the crazy amount of money need to build such a big stadium, it better be capable to have a 400m track installed in it.
  6. I always had a feeling that it wasn't a matter if the NFL was gonna come to Toronto, it was more so when it will happen. From the sounds of this article from The Toronto Star, it seems like getting an NFL franchise in Toronto within the next 10 years is quite foreseable. This will give Toronto the stadium it needs for it's 2024 Olympic bid or any future Olympic bid it makes. Things are definitely looking good for the Tdot minus that sloppy pig of a mayor we have.
  7. Intoronto, I'm starting to doubt the legitimacy of this. Some members have brought up some solid points about IOC rules. On the other hand why is a 3rd party design firm creating these? Hmmm.
  8. This looks really attractive.
  9. More information is to come out. Videos and wiretaps. The 2nd video is said to be much worse than the 1st one with him smoking crack cocaine. I don't understand how he thinks he can continue in his position. He needs to step down immediately because it's going to get much worse when all this other information is released by the Police.
  10. CP24 is saying the way the Mayor admitted the crack use was strange. Wiretap evidence is going to be released soon. Damning evidence against the Mayor showing him buying crack cocaine, and occupying a crack house. He must have known he had to admit before the **** really got out of hand.
  11. Who is reporting his popularity is going up? An angry mob is starting to grow outside of City Hall chanting "Rehab! Rehab"
  12. Breaking news: Mayor admits that he has smoked crack cocaine
  13. This is embarrassing for the city but this segment on Jon Stewart was funny http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1dzpgLQHKM
  14. Holy crap there is so much drama going on at City Hall now. No wonder the report on the 2024 bid hasn't been released. Rob Ford needs to resign. And how ironic is it that the Mayor's brother and city councillor Doug Ford just had a press conference is asking the Police Chief to resign. Give me a f'ing break. These two are insane.
  15. Do you honestly think they'll re-elect him? He smokes crack cocaine, deals with shaddy drug dealers, and flat out lied to the citizens of Toronto.
  16. It's official. Toronto's mayor smokes crack cocaine. Police have been investigating and have recovered the alleged video. Mayor Ford will not be apart of the 2015 Pan Ams in anyway. Thank god and good riddance!
  17. A ton of investment in infrastructure would obviously be required for this bid to go anywhere. This would be one gigantic price tag. If the CSA gets financial committments from the government and finally establishes a Canadian Soccer league then I can see this coming to fruition. There's a lot of potential for Soccer in this country, it just never got the proper investments and a home grown league would definitely help develop Canadian talent.
  18. Construction update on the Athlete's village:
  19. Great news! Cirque is a fantastic fit for this.
  20. Is this where we're expecting some kind of talk to arise about the study on 2024? Don't they normally bring these issues up at City hall where its presented to every Councillor?
  21. Yeah they're not dead. That's for sure. Both countries would be contenders, how strong of a contender is yet to be determined without knowing how serious some European cities intentions would be. If the USA bids with a 3rd tier city, then yes, they don't have a good chance.
  22. Most likely. I can see both Toronto and an American candidate pursuing 2024. If they don't win, it would be in preparation for a better run at 2028.
  23. Like I said I doubt it will get far. The federal government is pulling Canada out of the Expo family. They don't want to pay the member fee and any other costs.
  24. Yeah what's up with that? I saw it on CP24 this afternoon. There was no mention of an Olympic bid as part of that feasibility study. But the Federal government doesn't want to stay apart of the World's Fair since they want to be removed. I doubt the Feds support an Expo bid.
  25. Yeah, the thunder showers yesterday were crazy. I cant believe how much rain we got. I just got power back early this morning since being out from 630pm last night.
