  1. How many times do you buy a Laptop or pricy items? Not alot right. Therefore, 1% really isn't a big deal dumbass on small purchases. That's why it helps off the rich more than the poor. Figure it out!!!
  2. This guy is a complete joke for even suggesting such a thing. What a fucking moron. Hearing **** like this pisses me off.
  3. Well I'm sure that is all on Harper's agenda as we all know he loves the military and war.
  4. I thought this new Conservative government has injected lots of new money into the military forces this time.
  5. I don't understand why they want to reduce spending when we the country has so much money anyways. I just don't understand our government. I never liked Stephen Harper. They should reduce our taxes more and that 1% decrease in GST that took effect in July is completely ridiculous. It's not like were saving a lot with it. It only benefits the rich in my opinion.
  6. Most of the people are ignornant on the issue and misinformed as Mr.X mentioned. They automatically jump to conclusions because they hear of a cost overrun. All Olympic city preperations end up with cost overruns. That's just how it is and Vancouver isn't really going to ring up a huge debt load by hosting these games. It is no where near the scale of Montreal's Olympics and the debt that came along with it. Canadians just get worried by this because of the memories of Montreal's Olympics.
  7. This is fucking disgusting. Just looking at the pictures makes me sick
  8. Looks great, things are begining to shape up
  9. Obviously, I'm just getting a general consensus here. I'm not going to say Canada will win 32 medals, USA 29, Germany 27, etc. Just a thread to express thoughts on how well you think specific countries will perform.
  10. Who else thinks Canada can meet the goal set by the COC to be #1 in the medal standings come 2010? It's less than 4 years away which is quite sometime but after seeing their performance in Torino, it's looks very acheivable since our Winter Sports program is continually improving each year. Maybe we will dominate I also see the USA doing really well in Vancouver too since thats the usual pattern that happens with these two neighbouring countries when they particpate on their neighbours soil. And hopefully Canada won't choke when it comes down to the Men's Hockey again.
  11. ?? What I'm trying to get at Mr.X is that most people from Eastern Canada believe we do not get back enough money in tax revenue that we pay out to the federal government. And in fact, it's actual reality that Ontario does not get back the amount of tax revenue that they dish out. That's why most would not want to be on the hook for an Olympic games that isn't even located remotely closeby. I guess the rest of the country see it as spreading the wealth, but if that's the case...go knockin on Alberta's door since they are the richest province and seem to keep the wealth within that province. Don't tell me that Western Canada would gladly accept paying up to fund a future Toronto Summer Olympics. I'm sure there would be a lot of objection to that. It also makes it worse that the West views Ontario and specifically Toronto in a negative limelight. Anyways, what happened has happened and hope VANOC construction costs don't escalate any further.
  12. Well VANOC is labelling it like that but I doubt most of the country outside of Western Canada will want to pay for them, especially Montrealers.
  13. What I don't like about this is that Canadian tax payers are on the hook for this, not just the Vancouver residents and British Columbia citizens, but the rest of Canadians.
  14. Well the timezone does suck for North Americans where the majority of the IOC's television contract $$$ is coming from. But I agree that Beijing shouldn't change it's schedule for TV stations. We'll all have to adjust to it even though NBC's Olympic ratings might suffer.
  15. I bet you wouldn't have the balls to tell me to **** off in person.
  16. When has Finance been your major little one? Pulling numbers out of your ass
  17. That's good news for the NHL players. They don't have to adjust to the international ice size.
  18. I'm just curious, does Vancouver have an underground subway line? If there isn't, is there any plans of one in the distant future?
  19. I hope Nelly Furtado gets integrated into it somehow. I would actually prefer her over Avril Lavigne. Nelly is very popular in Europe especially Portugal and Italy. She's also got a new disc dropping this year.
  20. She's not the best choice but we should make the best out of it. All this whinning and complaining is getting quite sickening actually. After all she is Canadian and I'm sure she feels really proud to represent Canada at the Torino Closing Ceremony. We all should support her, remember the Olympics are supposed to bring the people of the world together to enjoy diverse culture and sport.
