  1. Unless there is a website that I havnt come across yet, but there doesn't seem a lot of information and photos of the venue construction. Rio, Sochi, London and Vancouver had a ton of photo updates of their venue being built, but hardly any of pyeongchang. It's rather frustrating lol. Their bobsleigh and speed skating venues are being built now, there should be a ton of pics up.
  2. I watched this and the opening ceremony. I had forgotten how much I disliked the announcers. I was hoping for something like Athens, similar female voices. And the cauldron bit, with the clown fixing the broken arm, was the best part of any closing ceremony.
  3. they still do not spell out how they plan organize this event.
  4. i actually quite like the vancouver cauldron. very different than other cauldrons with the seperate flames.
  5. why? the hockey hall of fame is in toronto, more people will see it there.
  6. im still going to be here. i love the olympics so i will still be here
  7. i thought i would provide this link to an absolutely shameful article, personally i think this is lower than even the british media. at least they kind of ate crow over the whole worst games ever comment. http://www.kansascity.com/2010/02/28/1780198_it-was-a-canadian-party-and-canada.html?storylink=omni_popular
  8. MAPLE LEAF FOREVER!!!!

  9. for me i loved the opening clown fixing the cauldren loved, loved, LOVED buble/maple leaf forever. really didnt like the speaches from shatner/ohara/ j fox. F'ING nickleback?!? almost ruined the whole thing for me, but alannis saved the music numbers for me, she was great and looked amazing. holy.....who knew the russian anthem was so looooooong. for me it was 50\50, some great parts, and not so great parts.
  10. for the la84 award i nominate eusebius65. hes articulate in his posts, starts interesting topics and his alternate history of the olympics is a great read. for Eruedan award, since joannie rochet is already nominated i nominate the canadian ladies curling team. they have never won a national title, they have never played internationally until these games. they were never expected to win at the canadian trials, they came from no where. there first international trophy will be an olympic medal. impressive run!
  11. calgary is way to small to host a summer games
  12. as angry as i am with the media painting these games as the worst ever - mainly because of cypress and the weather. cypress was not worth the risk. with its low altitude and history of bad weather, were the pretty pictures of the city and water from cypress worth the risk? imo, after the cancelations and bad press from cypress at last years world cup, they should have moved the freestyle and snowboard to whistler, or at least had the plans in place to move the events from cypress in the event of bad weather. the one thing that i will have to agree with though is the cauldren and fence.....i cant understand how vanoc thought this prison fence was a good idea. i can only assume they wanted to protect it from the militant protesters in vancouver, given the history with the countdown clock. but like everything, there is a compromise with security and allowing people to take pictures. this is canada after all......we compromise. vancouver is hosting an excellent games, jubilant crowds, excellent competitions, full venues (which is what the media should be talking about). i think vancouver and canada will be holding there heads high once these games are done.
  13. i think its obvious who will carry the maple leaf at the cc......Alexandre Bilodeau!
  14. what a great day!!! even better that we beat that traitor begg smith.
  15. i loved the ceremony the only thing that i hated was the anthem. to my ear it had an "r & b" sound to it, our national anthem is not an r,b tune. i was wishing for celine.
  16. everything looks amazing. especially the oval!!! vancouver has out done itself with its branding. my only dissappointment is that it wasnt used more.
  17. here is a link explaining what an voyageur is.... http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/index.cfm?PgNm=TCE&Params=A1ARTA0008396
  18. lumber jacks and voygeurs......this sounds cool, and i was expecting there to be something to do with the voygeurs......they are an important part of canadian history. like it or not voygeurs/fur trappers opened the western half of the country to exploration. also i do ever so hope that stompin tom performs the hockey song at the closing ceremonies. alot of you will probably role your eyes at that thought. its campy but it is very canadian. i think it would fit in, similar to the older gentleman singing waltzing matilda at sydney. how cool would be to have the whole of BC Place singing along to the hockey song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZWxErEbQkY (the hockey song) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpPF7KLh1W4 (waltzing matilda)
  19. the canadians should put the team canada logo on their building to show support.
