    I can only find seven previous formal bids for winter olympics. What have I missed?

    On the other hand Robert missed the "Equestrian Olympics" of 1956.

    The number is actually eight, not including the 2030 bid. We inadvertently added the 2004 Summer Games bid making it nine. It has since been corrected.
