Rugby World Cups 2027-31 (and beyond)
SportLightning replied to Sir Rols's topic in Other International Games / Bids
While, 2035 Rugby World Cup bid process hasn't started yet/host not yet selected. Reports said Spain could host it that year. Reports also said 2039 could be held in Qatar. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. I think that is a possible guess that could happen in these countries since they are frontrunners. -
2031 FIFA Women's World Cup
SportLightning replied to SportLightning's topic in FIFA World Cup / Bids
So USA and Mexico will await official ratification next May. -
The bid process for the FIFA Women's World Cup. Not only for 2031, but also 2035 is heating up. So it's only gonna be either Europe, Africa or both. I heard recent news that Morocco, Portugal and Spain are bidding for 2035. They will be competing against UK and South Africa. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2025/03/188671/spain-announces-joint-2035-womens-world-cup-bid-with-morocco-portugal/ If this joint bid is selected. Morocco will look to bring the Women's World Cup to Africa for the first time ever, Portugal and Spain look to bring it back to Europe for the first time since 2019 in France. If they are awarded, it would be five year since they hosted the (Men's) World Cup in 2030. Neither of them have hosted the FIFA Women's World Cup before. Same with UK (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) and South Africa. The hosts for both 2031 and 2035 will be selected by the FIFA Congress next year. This will be the first time the FIFA Congress will select FIFA Women's World Cup host both editions at the same time. Just like the men's tournament recent for 2030 and 2034.

For qualifier spots on the other hand. Let me think on that. Africa could expect 8 spots since Morocco qualified automatically as co-host. Same with Europe who are expecting 14 spots because Portugal and Spain qualified automatically as co-hosts. For South America about the qualifiers yet. Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay could be expected since they are centenary co-hosts. If so, that would leave 3 spots for South America.

Jordan and Uzbekistan on the other hand, are getting closer to their FIFA World Cup debut.
-
Asuncion might have a big shot to host this Pan American Games. It's gonna be a tight battle.

Amdavad/Ahmedabad 2030 Commonwealth Games
SportLightning replied to Apple's topic in Commonwealth Games / Bids
I don't know if India could win the bid, they might have a strong competition with South Africa. -
This was Saudi Arabia's first time they took part in the Asian Winter Games. It is also the second time they took part in a winter multi-sport event after they did at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. They await at the closing with the handover from Harbin to Trojena. Bhutan and Cambodia also made their Asian Winter Games debut.

With the Super Bowl LIX done, now it's back to the West Coast as next year's edition will take place in the San Francisco Bay Area in Santa Clara, California ten years after they last hosted it. It will be five months before they host matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Here is the logo of next year's Super Bowl.

Jordan has not qualified for a World Cup either. If they do well, it will be the first time they have done so.

I'm starting discussion on broadcasters as we are under a year from today to these Olympic Winter Games. NBCUniversal had just revealed their logo for its coverage. It's a snowflake instead of the mountains which they did in the last 6 editions since 2002. This is the first time they will not use the mountains in their logo.

I think Copenhagen could get 2030, while 2034 could be awarded to Asuncion. -

THe logo was designed by Unlock Brands, the same agency who also worked on the FIFA World Cup 2022 logo. -
Asuncion was for 2027 the favorite until Lima got it. I hope they could get 2031. We'll see.

2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup
SportLightning replied to SportLightning's topic in Other International Games / Bids
The logo of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 has been unveiled along with the slogan: "Step It Up". The logo is inspired by a bisht, a traditional garment the men wear in Qatar and forms the Naismith Trophy.
