I mean, while the organization itself might not be interfered with in the same way as Berlin, you also cannot deny the fact that there will likely be an attempt to propagandize or hijack the Games themselves. Even I, someone who has wanted these Games ever since I was a child, currently cannot in good conscience encourage people to come here and pretend everything will be fine. Don't get me wrong - I would love for foreigners to come here in 2028. But I cannot and will not blame people if they do not come here given how often we've been hearing about people getting turned away, deported, or even sent to ICE camps. Regarding his ego, remember that Trump does not like LA nor California. You say he will want to make the Games a success - but I think he will be just as happy blaming us if the Games go anything short of perfect. I don't think you can really apply that (or any) logic with this.

After today, we need venue assignments for Mountain Bike and Football. Noticeably absent from the Games Plan is the Forum. There's no other indoor sport left for the arena, so I wonder if it's just gonna go unused then...

Milano/Cortina 2026 Torch

Chino is actually decently close, at least in my opinion. Yes, it's in San Bernardino County, but it's in that corner that is sandwiched between LA County, Orange County, and Riverside County. In fact, I'm pretty sure it actually borders LAC and RC. ----- Decided to look up how to get to both Prado OSP and Galway Downs from downtown LA, turns out it's the same route for both, except you pass Prado OSP and keep driving for another hour before you get to Galway!
-
re: Shooting The Sports Examiner suggests that Prado Olympic Shooting Park, located in Chino, is the expected venue. This is the same venue used in 1984, and is located in decently close proximity to LA, so it wouldn't be a terrible choice.

wait are you saying there's a company named "Transport"? I thought you were talking about transport in the general sense omg
-
well considering transport is one of our major issues (see: "transit-first Games"), I suppose it makes sense
-
if its worth anything, Elaine Chao has been on the LA28 board for quite a while now

Milan Cortina 2026 Ceremonies
Bear replied to BigVic's topic in Milan Cortina 2026 Ceremonies Discussions
and if anyone wants to know for the Paralympic Opening Ceremony in Verona: https://tickets.milanocortina2026.org/en/event/cerimonia-di-apertura-paralimpica-verona-olympic-arena-19577559/?affiliate=26P#eventDescription Also a 20:00 start time, with tickets starting at 100 EUR I assume the seat map will be the same for the Olympic Closing Ceremony. -
Well if the dressage news article I linked is correct, these are exactly the reason why they switched to Santa Anita. Temecula is pretty limited in regards to housing for both spectators and athletes. If the athletes stay in the hotels in the city, where will the spectators go? This is the analysis I did of Galway Downs for my project: It would be incredibly inconvenient for a casual spectator to get to Galway, as it would have required an overnight stay in Temecula to avoid the 3 AM travel. Unless, of course, you have a car, but as I say in my write up, that would have gone against the "transit-first Games" thing they're trying to get going on.

As soon as I hit enter on this post, another story just came out saying it will be at Santa Anita: https://dressage-news.com/2025/04/11/los-angeles-olympic-equestrian-competitions-switched-to-santa-anita-park-site-of-1984-summer-games/ Understandable tbh. For one of my class projects last semester, I pointed out significant spectator accessibility issues with Galway Downs, so by having Santa Anita it will make everything easier for the organizers and the spectators. Still surprising though that it came out of no where.
-
Okay I have no idea what happened but Galway Downs (Temecula) has been stripped from Equestrian hosting duties, and it seems they don't know why either: https://www.latimes.com/sports/olympics/story/2025-04-11/galway-downs-temecula-valley-equestrian-venue So if not Galway Downs, where? The only other major horse venue in the region is Santa Anita in Arcadia, which I suppose would be a good fit. Still strange that they would go forth with all the announcements and fanfare for Galway Downs only to abruptly remove them from the plan...

Brisbane 2032 Venues/Stadiums Thread
Bear replied to Victorian's topic in Brisbane 2032 Summer Games
Equestrian, maybe? Or does the sport already have a confirmed venue assignment? -
Now that I think of it, for Boxing to move to the Forum, it would require approval from the LA City Council as the sport was originally set for the LA Convention Center. Yet, we haven't seen the sport mentioned in any of the LA28 / LA City Council documents. Either it remains in the LA Convention Center, or we see a new document pop up soon. Agree about all the other sports as well, those are the ones without clear options.

100% agree. It actually gives me some hope for the Games, taking into consideration everything that's going on in this country lately...
