  2. Would Vietnam go against China?
  3. A bill to force team USA to boycott is being introduced into the senate - while introuduced by a republicain The Dems might support it. https://edition.cnn.com/2021/01/26/sport/china-xinjiang-olympics-genocide-boycott-2022-intl-hnk/index.html# https://www.theaustralian.com.au/world/the-times/why-we-should-boycott-chinas-winter-olympics/news-story/fb4bd490266bc3a4a327d1a531e05b2b
  4. I honestly am thinking 2022 will see a boycott over nearly all the main winter countries bar Switzerland and maybe Austria and/or Sweden.
  5. In fact that is more likely - The IOC is unlikely to cancel if Japan think they can safely manage it and major nations are secure in that belief and would publicly oppose cancellation being imposed by the IOC.
  6. Looks like Biden might order a boycot.

  8. Just think - if Tokyo 2021 is cancelled and Bejing 2022 sees a mass boycott the IOC might go bust.

  10. https://edition.cnn.com/2021/01/19/us/us-xinjiang-china-genocide-intl/index.html CNN saying the same thing.
  11. https://news.sky.com/story/us-says-china-is-committing-genocide-against-uighurs-and-other-ethnic-minorities-12193099 Sky News predicts a USA boycott.
  12. I've seen rumours trump might tonight sign an order demanding a boycott knowing it's going to be harder for Biden to outright reverse such an order.
  13. The Tory party has a 80 seat majority but tomorrow an anti china amendment which they oppose is set to pass - they don't have the ability to refuse a demand from the china hawks to not remove funding if the BOA wont boycott.
  14. But it will happen - it's very clear it will happen.

  16. This is why I think a boycot will happen - if sanctions are brought in the IOC might face being banned from trading with any US or British company if it trades with the Chinese regime

  18. If full on trade sanctions are applied to China then it's curtains because it be impossible to run the games without breaching them.
  19. China is likely to be officially declared a state committing active genocide so why do you think there will much hesitation to not boycott.
  20. In fact its quite possible the uk commons might pass a motion calling for the games to be moved in the coming months.
  21. Two of the biggest opposition parties advocate it. Fundamentally it's government's who make the decisions - unlike 1980 I doubt they will be pro attending rebellions against pro boycotting governments.
  22. I think the fact the Brazilian variant is in Japan makes cancellation even more likely.
  23. https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/canadian-olympic-committee-says-boycotting-beijing-games-would-be-misguided-1.5265375 Seems to be significant support in Canada - not sure if the committee will be able to hold out for 13 months especially if the government changes and a openly pro boycott one takes office.
