  1. The problem for Australia now it's no longer the only place in the Southern Hemisphere which could host the games Brazil hosted it and Indonesia and if Peru does a great job in hosting the 2019 Pan Am Games they could also go for the Olympic Games.

Indonesia 2018 Asian Games was a brilliant games and if Lima does a great job the Pan Am Games are far bigger then the Youth Olympic Games sorry Argentina both Jakarta Indonesia and Lima Peru could host the Olympic Games before Australia get's to host it again.

  2. London again boring................. Let's have it in Manchester with some events in Liverpool, Leeds and Blackpool that would be more fun, Manchester hosted a brilliant 2002 Commonwealth Games which was a major factor in London getting the 2012 Summer Games and after the failed 1996 and 2000 bid it will be great to finally bring the games to Manchester.

After the repeat host from 2020 - 2028 If Stockholm 2026 and Salt Lake City 2030 happens it will be great to have new host for the games even if the country already hosted the games like Shanghai, Manchester and Toronto, New countries like Indonesia, Peru and Hungary.

If it London UK vs Moscow Russia 2036 then I would back Moscow Russia way too soon for London to host again.

The feasibility study can be found here:

It's a regional bid, unlike the compact proposal for 1992.

The main stadium is proposed at a permanent 25,000, expanded temporarily to 55,000. A far cry from QE II Stadium's proposed expansion for the 1992 Olympics at 95,000.

A new arena is needed in Brisbane to supplement the existing Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

The Media accommodation and Main Media Centre is an issue, as the Expo 88 suite which was proposed in 1992 as the location for this, is now the Brisbane Convention Centre, which will preferably host some indoor sporting events.

But can such a games work? Are the proposed infrastructure developments enough? Can they propose a new Olympic Stadium that would only be 55,000 seats? Should such a capacity be higher? Should it match the 1992 proposal of 95,000?

And what about Melbourne? Shall we start a domestic bid war before the real deal?

The new Perth Stadium can be expanded to 80,000 seats from the 60,000 they have right now Perth is in a better position over Brisbane to host next games in Australia, There have been allot of development in Perth.

From 2036 the IOC would be more friendly to having the games not in July and August when the NBC deal runs out if the games want to come back to Australia it will be in either Melbourne or Perth, John Coates era will soon becoming to the end with AOC Brisbane 2032 bid will fail to either Jakarta Indonesia or Shanghai China.

Wrong emoji there - that’s entirely an indictment of the EOC. I mean Baku & Minsk, really - with friends like those... Who’s going for 2023’s European Games anyway, if anyone?

Deadline to bid is the 28th of February with the winner getting picked on June 20 the only bid so far is from Poland, I hope either Athens Greece or Vienna Austria makes a bid for them games.

2032 could go to Asia/Oceania. Got a feeling Brisbane has it in the bag. Brisbane 2032 was given the green light yesterday.

Shanghai China or Jakarta Indonesia more likely then Brisbane, With Africa no longer being in play for 2030s South East Asia will be more likely be the next new horizon for the IOC to go too Indonesia did an amazing job with the Asian Games as the back up host they are ready to host the Olympic and Paralympics Games, Mass transit development is going on in Jakarta right now should be all done by 2030.

Jakarta Indonesia is in the Southern Hemisphere too which will help in the bid first time in Indonesia the 4th largest country in the world booming economy first time in SEA Indonesians per cap are richer then China was when they got the hosting rights in 2001.

Shanghai China a major city with the largest metro population of the city in the world in likely be the number one economy in the world by 2032 with rapid developments in the city with the urbanisation project likely be done by 2030 in China the financial hub in the super power economy which hosted the 2010 World Expo a Chinese games in 2032 first outside of Beijing will really finish up the job in making China the super power. It would be like if New York City hosted the 1948 or 1952 Games.

Queensland is having troubles with even building a coal mine right now imagine what they will be like with building stuff for games related stuff the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games was a embarrassment for Australia it will be go back to Melbourne or go to Perth for the next Olympic Games in Australia.

  6. With no end in sight will the Yellow Vest unrest and with the with some military people joining it in the possible event France will enter a civil war will it put Paris France 2024 at risk? What should the IOC do in the event of the collapse of the economy of France and if France enters a civil war?

2032 is gonna be much more interesting of a discussion than 2026 and 2030 lol.  We might actually have a decent fight between India, Indonesia, Shanghai, possibly St Petersburg (though the recent internet mumbling has said they might wait til 2036),........okay Brisbane too (though theyll fall off quick surely).  looking forward to that discussion.

Can they move up and award the games 9 years in advance that would be better for host cities open up the bidding in 2021 and award it in 2023, Bring the 2030 Winter Games host city election to the 2021 IOC session. I know we will have an brilliant race for the 2032 Summer Games already with the joint Korean, Shanghai China and Jakarta Indonesia bid all ready.

Yeah, Delhi and the -pur cities, Jaiour, Udaipur are in the Rajahstan area , , , which is desert country.  And India will have to do seomthing about their sacred cows raoming the streets and the lazy dogs all over to even allow the Pre-selection Committee to visit and NOT give them an XXX at the start!  I don't know how they got the 2010 CWGames at all.

Had Canada went with Toronto for the 2010 Commonwealth Games with the Toronto 2008 Olympic bid plan they would of won hands down but no they went for Hamilton, If they went with Toronto we could be seeing them host next years Summer Olympic and Paralympics Games after hosting the 2010 Commonwealth Games and 2015 Pan Am Games they could really become a new sporting hub in the world.

If had Toronto Canada hosted the 2010 Commonwealth Games we could of seen the 2014 Commonwealth Games went to Glasgow Scotland, Delhi India might have hosted the 2018 Commonwealth Games with the new government taking over from 2014 it would not have been a shambles from the Indian National Congress it would have been an ok games. Perth Australia would likely be the host of the 2022 Commonwealth Games with the new Perth Stadium being major factor and Ron Clarke being no longer the Mayor of the Gold Coast.

    Delhi 2032 NOT happening!

Am on my 2nd to the last night of my India trip.  Delhi 2032 CERTAINLY will NOT happen.  Delhi and India are just too dirty, over-crowded and chaotic for an Olympics to happen in Delhi or ANY Indian city.  I suppose dreaming is free; and maybe it's just something to raise the hopes of Indian athletes but I wouldn't even give a World Championships to India.  It's still very much a 3rd world setting despite so-called strides into becoming a developed country.  After 50 years? maybe.

With Manila Philippines and the UAE planning a bid to host the 2030 Asian Games the Philippines is more develop then India they might not even get the 2030 Asian Games 2010 Commonwealth Games is still very well known Delhi is next door to the least develop part of India Uttar Predesh and Bihar which is develop as Cambodia and Pakistan is right now.

It might be a while before India host the Asian Games Thailand could host the Olympic Games I think Shanghai China is more likely to be the next Asian host for the Summer Games Thailand and Indonesia is more capable of hosting the games then India.

  10. Seoul is the right move over Busan if they went with Busan it would be game over for the joint Korean bid it will be interesting to see what they will do to the Olympic Stadium in Seoul it holds 69,900 seats rights now will they expand it to have 110,000 seats it hold 100,000 seats in 1988 games MAY Day Stadium holds 114,000 seats, If so more the 220,000 people will see the ceremonies which will be the biggest ceremonies following the two locations ceremonies for the LA 2028 Games.

It's looking like a race between the joint Korean bid and the Shanghai China bid will Shanghai go and build an 120,000 seat Olympic Stadium for the Olympic and Paralympics Games? Shanghai will shortly over take Tokyo in having the largest metro population in the world will Shanghai go out big to be the Premier city in the world in the 21st century, They hosted the most Grand World Expo back in 2010 and will they finish up the job in hosting a Grand Summer Olympic and Paralympics Games in 2032.

Salt Lake City will unquestionably be the fallback if sweden and/or italy go offline, certainly not Sochi.  Sochi will have to draw up plans for 2038-ish timeframe.

It will be interesting if Salt Lake City host 2026 Winter Games and Shanghai host the 2032 Summer Games it will be like China handing over the flag to America with China picking it up again in LA 2028.

Salt Lake City USA 2026 - Almaty Kazakhstan 2030

After Beijing China 2022 I still see Europe still not warm up to hosting the Winter Games and might have to wait for the Salt Lake City USA 2026 and Paris France 2024 for them to embrace the games again so 2030 might be Sapporo Japan vs Almaty Kazakhstan.

    Shanghai China 2032

  12. If we get another Denver case with Stockholm they get the games then the public votes against the games, Sochi Russia could be like Innsbruck in 1976 they hosted the games in 1964 and hosted the games 12 years later as the back up host It will be interesting if history repeat's itself in Stockholm.

2026 is a mess at this point why risk it with Sweden Stockholm might end up with going to Sochi Russia again.

Please stop.  And I don't just mean stop posting here.  I mean stop consuming oxygen and leave this planet's valuable natural resources to other people who aren't complete dumbasses.

Your "hey IOC, better call up Kazakhstan" shtick gets more asinine every time you suggest it.  Not going to happen just because you think it should.

As for Stockholm.. how many times have we said here they're done for?  A lot.  And yet somehow, some way, they're still alive.  The possibility still remains that Sweden and Italy will both fall out of the running before the vote in June.  At which point, the IOC calls up the USOC, not Kazakhstan, and asks them to put Salt Lake on the table.  I do give you a little credit for not using this post to make another prediction about the next 7 Winter Olympics though.

If the USOC says NO to 2026 with LA 2028 issues then what would you do? They only have 2 real options Sochi Russia or Almaty Kazakhstan but do the IOC really want to go back to Sochi after all the issues which lead to this mess 2026 will be post Putin era in Russia from 2024 and Almaty Kazakhstan a major city in the middle of Euroasia with winter sporting experience a country with a great economy with great relations with everyone Almaty won't have to build that much to host the Winter Games.

Sapporo Japan won't have the games until that train line is done in 2030/31 so they are out of the picture no matter what happens with the 2026 winter games.

Instead of attacking me what is your plan B or C

    Commonwealth Games Canada

    @cgc_jcc
      2m2 minutes ago
Recently @cgc_jcc, and @thecgf held a Briefing with 14 municipalities and 6 provincial govt's about Commonwealth Games bidding. The goal is to select Canada's Bid City to host the 2030 or 2026 Commonwealth Games by summer 2020.

So if Canada does host in 2026 would most likely be Toronto, They would have 5 1/2 years to build a Commonwealth/Olympic Stadium the issue is the FIFA World Cup in Toronto and the games major venue would FIFA want a oval and with ceremonies issues would they do what Glasgow did and have say the Opening Ceremony and Closing ceremony at different places say Opening Ceremony at Rogers Centre and Commonwealth/Olympic Stadium (BMO Field) for the Closing ceremony  or if Toronto get;s the Commonwealth Games give up the FIFA Games to Vancouver BC Place Stadium.

  15. If Nairobi Kenya gets the 2025 IAAF it would be a great warm up event for the 2026 Commonwealth Games they will finally bring the games to Africa, Kenya got an stable government and a good economy I hope if it a new place it will be Singapore 2026, Kenya still got more building work to do if they do a great 2025 IAAF then an 2030s Commonwealth Games would be very good in Nairobi Kenya.

I can understand where you are coming from, but I don't fully agree

While I'm a little iffy about the indoor arena concept for the Para's opening, it's entirely workable and has potential dependent on who is involved. As for the closing ceremony concepts, the Verona Arena would be so iconic for the Games , and likewise I think Buenos Aires showed that outdoor public venues can produce some innovative spectacles (especially when you integrate the historic landmarks surrounding the areas). Don't forget it's only been in recent times that the Winter Para Closing ceremonies have been hosted in a stadium. Both Salt Lake and Vancouver held their closing in their medals plaza .

It's all about having an equal footing the Verona Arena will be hard with disability issues so it will be the best to have all the ceremonies at San Siro Stadium.

After 4 months of political deadlock, the swedish parliament brought back Lofven as Prime Minister. It seems no one wanted to team up with the far right SD party, so the government will remain in the hands of the same people, as well for a coallition of other parties.

Long story short, the people who said No to this bid in the past will still be around. Definitely bad news for Stockholm-Are bid.

This bid now pretty much dead in the water now if Italy is likely to have a down turn in the economy then they will be out too the IOC better get Kazakhstan on the phone let's be real only reason why they did not make a bid for the 2026 Games is they thought there would never be 3 Asian Winter Games in a row. The good news from Barcelona the anti Olympic Games Mayor will be very likely to be booted from office in this Mayoral elections this year so Barcelona could be looking good for the 2030 Winter Games.

There is little media coverage of the Commonwealth Games in Canada. I haven't lived in Canada since I went to university in Vancouver over a decade ago, but I saw nothing about the commies in the Canadian news then and I can't imagine it's any better now.

Of note, though, is that Sport Canada had a large amount of public money allocated for the 2026 winter games in Calgary that is now back in the pool for spending on something else.

Edmonton isn't a sexy option but they recently did a $120 million upgrade of the Commonwealth Stadium, built a 18,000 seat arena for the NHL, and will need a small football stadium for their new Canadian Premier League team which should work for the rugby sevens venue. And they still have their aquatics center and velodrome from the 1978 games, which would only need to be renovated. It is the only Canadian city that makes sense as Montreal is a non-starter due to language issues.

The big problem for Edmonton or Montreal for 2026 is the FIFA World Cup unless if the CWF agrees to change the year till 2027 then I don't see Canada hosting it in 2026.

Kenya is eyeing the 2025 IAAF if they do host it and get it then I can see Nairobi bidding to host the Commonwealth Games in the 2030's.

The best new option is by far Singapore but will the government go for it if asked by the federation they hosted the 2015 SEA Games and 2010 Youth Olympics Games.

New Zealand I don't see them having it in Wellington or Christchurch any more and Auckland is shaping out to be the major sports centre in New Zealand but will the current government allow it I don't think the Green Party in the coalition government will agree to it.

Australia the best place for the next Commonwealth Games is Perth, Perth got the direct flights to London now they have a amazingly great new stadium which are already in the talks to expand it to 70,000 seats.
