  1. Wow. The Mayor and the committee are wasting no time locking in 2028! Paris host city for 2024! Los Angeles host city for 2028! https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/olympics/2017/07/31/los-angeles-reaches-deal-host-2028-olympics/525815001/
  2. THANK YOU! When I hear east coasters bitch and moan about LA's homeless, it's like, where do you get the nerve? LA voted to tax itself to house and rehabilitate those that the South and East shunned and sent packing to the west. No compassion, no understanding, and all criticism from the east coasters.
  3. Haha. Well, if Elon gets his way, it might not be that much of a stretch. http://www.dailybreeze.com/business/20170726/rest-of-the-world-looking-at-hawthorne-as-elon-musk-prepares-to-dig-test-tunnel Also, the Hyperloop system is coming along very quickly. An LA to SF, or LA to SD or LA to Las Vegas hyperloop would make for a first of its kind games. People from SD, SF, and Vegas being in LA in 30min or less and vice versa. The potential there is incredible.
  4. And change all the freeways to incorporate a 28 in it. 405 will now be the 428 605 will now be the 628 10 will now be 28 Santa Monica Freeway
  5. On a side note, Los Angeles hosted Real Madrid Vs Manchester City with a crowd at well over 93,000+ on a Wednesday! That is insane.
  6. Mayor Garcetti says " the IOC is making the later date financially so attractive, we would be stupid not to take 2028." at a Buzzfeed event in Los Angeles. I kind of figured a good incentive would be put on the table for 28. Costs will go up, and LA may be in a deep recession, or worse, recovering from some sort of natural disaster or civil unrest. It is LA after all, and once every 10-20 years, something happens on a large scale. He needs to get a guarantee from the IOC of additional money, or the double allocation of Paris/LA becomes very lob sided. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-olympics-taxpayers-20170721-story.html
  7. Congratulations to both LA and Paris for their successful bids! September 13 will probably yield zero surprises, but this is exciting news nonetheless.
  8. Forgot to add the link. Sorry. http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/lucas-museum-renderings-431445853.html
  9. Cool new renderings of the $1.2 Billion Lucas Museum which will rise up immediately east of the LA Memorial Coliseum. It will add some pretty awesome park space that will be woven in and around the museum itself. Should make for a pretty stunning backdrop/background for an LA Olympics 2024/2028. It is expected to be completed in 2021.
  10. The funding in question for the Purple Line acceleration project is something that Phil Washington had previously stated saying 2035 was too long of a wait for a finished line, namely because of the rate at which funding would be allocated and distributed. When Metro & Garcetti asked for the funding it was taking advantage of a pilot program by the FTA. Basically the Feds would match whatever was collected by the local measure. Under Obama this was a non issue, under Trump it became questionable, but, the most recent news points to LA getting the grant even without an Olympic win.
  11. I don't "Smugly" think, I sincerely think that if its to get people excited, it is not that necessary. Again, LA has the time, money and energy to pull off the dual stadium ceremony because it will have no other real issues to tend to for 7/11 years. 2024 or 2028 LA can easily pull that off.
  12. I thought so, but I could be wrong. I thought they were going to light the Cauldron at the Coliseum and then have a torch relay through the streets of LA to the Inglewood Stadium. That was my understanding, but, it is 7-11 years out. A lot WILL happen between now and then.
  13. Sorry, but I have to LOL at that. Get Angelenos excited again? I don't even think they needed to see a video to get excited. I think LA can easily execute a double venue opening, It has the space, the infrastructure, and the people to nail it. With the main cauldron at the Rams stadium, I think it is safe to say that those who purchase tickets for the Coliseum will be well aware that they are seeing a scaled down version of the opening at a still great and iconic stadium. Honestly, I think so many people will want to see an LA opening ceremony that tickets to the Coliseum will also sell quickly. No doubt in my mind.
  14. Haha. Exactly. He isn't finished ruining things. He wants to make sure Americans are fucked well into the future!
  15. BREAKING: Bach to meet with Trump in the White House to discuss Los Angeles' Olympic Bid. So basically a ceremonial final nail in the coffin for LA's 2024 Bid.
  16. It's crazy. Three new arenas for LA, none of them at the expense of the taxpayers. Also, file this under "Awwwwww". I got teary eyed when I saw this. A fitting tribute to the original cape crusader in LA.
  17. Breaking: Steve Ballmer moving the Clippers to a new Arena to be built in Inglewood.
  18. Kidding aside though, he is right. The Sepulveda pass is way to steep for regular rail. A subway can tunnel under, but that would cost a fortune. Monorail seems like the more affordable version.
  19. Hey it worked for Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Haverbrook!
  20. So what exactly will happen in September then? It seems like it has been decided. LA has not conceded, but is also not giving ultimatums. Paris' "now or never" ultimatum seems to have worked....and LA, while surely disappointed, will (apparently) walk away with more money and guaranteed the 28 games. Color me confused.
  21. Aww. Don't worry Mousier Estanguet, no cold showers this time around, no matter how paranoid the last vote left you. Paris will host in 24' and maybe LA in 28'
  22. While rooting for LA, I am also rather enjoying the the convos and the scenarios play out from afar. Seeing people drool over both cities and say some interesting and sometimes ridiculous things, all over something that none of us here have a vote on. Lol. It's like fantasy football almost.
  23. There was a lot of truth to what Abrahamson was saying. He was right about a lot of what he said, especially in regards to the United States. And what he said would ring true for 2024 (especially after these last few months) and will likely be true for 2028.
  24. I think LA taking 2028 with the extra $$$ and having the IOC fund it's city wide youth programs in the years leading up to the Games is as awesome fucking deal if you ask me. If that is the case, let Paris take the 24 Games, I am happy the kids of LA will have a steady stream of $$$ for youth programs for years to come. If Garcetti can get the guarantee from the IOC of the additional funding and budget, I say, do it.
