They also revealed info on their schedules. Events from night to mid-morning will be on BBC One and then will switch over to BBC Two as BBC One has their breakfast show, BBC Breakfast from 6 to 9am every day.

Hmm, kinda looks generic for now compared to the biker doves in London, the ballet from Sochi and the paper doves from Rio.
They'll probably have white outfits on the day the ceremony happens. And maybe a projection of a dove on the stage.

Like look at what South Korea gives to us now.
They make electronics, K-Pop and cars from companies such as Hyundai, KIA and SsangYong

This was posted from the stadium. A prop made of TV screens?
Judging from this strange but cool looking prop, there's probably gonna be a segment paying tribute to South Korea's technology and how it's changed over the years.

Japan are probably going to do the same thing in Tokyo, it's just most of the country's names are either written in katakana or kanji, two letter styles of the Japanese language.
Katakana is mainly used for transliterating foreign words or names in the Japanese language. Kanji is just basically Chinese characters with Japanese pronunciations.
Like Greece's Japanese name is Girisha so I guess that's how it will go in Tokyo.
Also Beijing are gonna probably do what they did with their parade back in 2008.

I have to say this but Pyeongchang has surprisingly done a splendid job getting ready for the 2018 Games.
A lot better than Rio and Sochi tbh.
Here's to the first Games of the Asian Olympic Boom. And I'm so going to be at Tokyo 2020 once tickets are out.

I knew the animation was kind of familiar
. Speaking of animation, I fondly remember Heartcatch for its dynamic direction of both battles and animations. I also hope this season is better than the previous one (I liked GoPri more tha Mahotsukai tbh)
Oh, I loved Heartcatch because it had the same staff from Ojamajo Doremi (I love that show) and some of the episodes/plot were also quite dark for a kids' show. I think they did that to draw in older viewers/fans. Fresh kinda did that when it was aired as it had older-looking Cures. It's kinda like a pattern in the later seasons until now. Suite and HappinessCharge had older looking Cures and the rest had younger looking ones due to their different art styles. Heartcatch's designs actually made the Cures look a lot younger than previous and later seasons.

Don't have a problem with it. You're talking with an Otaku here as well (I also recognized may of those mascots from Precure, the newest season which began just yesterday, btw).
While i would love Ghibli being picked up i'm afraid they're kind of on the activist side so they might not do it. I wish Tezuka was still alive so he would help up (since he made many sport mascots while he was still alive like the 1985 Universiade and at least a couple of baseball/football teams out there).
Japan is also known for having some neat sport mascots for some of their teams.
Cute! So did you see the first episode of KiraKira A La Mode?
The eyecatch is so cute and so is Cure Whip's transformation! (her transformation music is also really good, Hayashi Yuki did a great job composing) The eyecatch in fact was animated by one of the animators on Dragon Ball Super, Koudai Watanabe

They will probably go with something cutesy which would sell well with kids. Youkai Watch is one of the most popular things at Japan right now.
They could also try doing an approach similar to some beloved character like Totoro
Or maybe something like those typical Magical Girl mascots you see these days
Oh, I recognize these guys! Well, some of them. Those two on the bottom right is Mepple and Mipple from Pretty Cure (first season and Max Heart), the cat is Hummy from Suite Pretty Cure (she's voiced by Sailor Moon's Japanese VA too), Artemis and Luna from Sailor Moon, Kyubey from Madoka Magica, the mouse is Blanca from Sugar Sugar Rune (which has a really catchy opening song) and I'm sure the one on the top left is Kero from Cardcaptor Sakura.
Yup, I'm an otaku. Get used to it.

They'll probably use 2 cauldrons at the same time a la Innsbruck.
By having a former Japanese athlete lighting the 1964 one and maybe a currently known Japanese athletes lighting a new, modern looking one for 2020.

Its a shame that the outside cauldron sculpture doesnt seem to move...
Also what will happen to the Maracana Cauldron? Will it be moved to the Olympic Stadium for the athletics events and then moved back for the closing? or will it keep burning in the Maracana? or will it be put out to be relit just before the closing ceremony?
1 hour ago, HenryOaks said:Do the waterfront sculpture move as well? In that video it's static. They should have broadcasted the lighting of that cauldron as well.
Well, the designers said that the sculpture is wind-powered. So it will probably move if it gets windy in Rio.

I managed to stay up for the whole show last night hence why I'm really tired.
The show itself wasn't that bad. Wasn't as good as London 4 years ago but it's still on my approved list
But tbh, the ceremonies really need a longer artistic segment because that 2 hour athletes parade just wastes the whole show.
And I do admit, for a cauldron that small and eco-friendly, it can make a pretty spectacular sight with the sculpture behind it.

It's on at midnight for me so I'm thinking of watching the ceremony the morning after.
-
Okay, but you didn't really have to go that far.
-
It will probably be on the actual show itself.
After all, that was a dress rehearsal.
-
Oh, but I'm trying to say that they couldn't get any floats into the stadium unfortunately
So it won't be much of a carnaval
-
Yeah, like an exchange from the Japanese hosts to the Brazilian hosts
And since apparently the Carnival part was scrapped, they might use that idea in the closing ceremony or maybe one of the Paralympic ceremonies.
-
I do admit, the soundtrack so far sounds really good especially in the second countdown.
-
Oh, I didn't know that.
So it'll be a bit like Sydney's Arrivals segment, I guess?
-
I wonder what the Japan bit is about? Could that be a homage to the next host and/or Japanese immigrants in Brazil?
Or is actually Tokyo's handover segment?
-
They've probably popped by now since they're that old.
-
I know that. I was just saying they would probably sing the anthem in Portuguese in the closing ceremony.
I guess they haven't translated the lyrics into Portuguese yet. Which may have been the reason why they'll be singing in English

Very true, my friend.
These people just moan about this like the idiots they are to gain publicity and controversy.
Can't they just let the Greatest Show on Earth go on in peace?
