  1. Oh dear, cosplaying being a moderator again just because a discussion point he started is going in a direction he now doesn't now like. And it's doubly a shame because I think his posts in the Brisbane threads of late have been decent. FWIW, I do think Paris organisers took a huge (but admirable) risk with the Seine, but with no real backup (not admirable). It was obvious to everyone how polluted this river was and how tight the timelines were for fixing it, but I feel some arrogance and politics got in the way. It definitely belongs in this thread (and it was Rols who nominated it, not AF).

  2. Honestly this is getting ridiculous even by AF standards... Who made, in this very thread, the unsubstantiated claim that salt water will be much less poluted than the Seine River? And now it has the guts of whining because people reacts to this claim... Someone has indeed a place in the Shame Gallery.

  3. Emma Thomas is the Interim CEO of the Games Venue and Legacy Delivery Authority and commenced in her role on 1 July this year. “Advertisement for up to seven independent board directors will soon commence, to be selected by CEOs of the nine Games Delivery Partners.” “The board will then appoint a permanent CEO.” Whether the new Crisafulli Government accepts this Interim CEO appointment or not remains to be seen. So the 9 Games delivery partners whose CEOs will select the 9 GVLDA Board of Directors are: The Queensland Government, the Australian Government, the Brisbane City Council, the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee, the Sunshine Coast Council, the City of Gold Coast, the Australian Olympic Committee, Paralympics Australia, Council of Mayors (SEQ) Pty Ltd. Does anyone have any updates on this?

  4. Victoria Park is the best option hands down and i suspect the review will find this too. if we go Vic Park, we can keep the Gabba operating and shift AFL & Cricket there seamlessly - and potentially even keep the Gabba for 2032 Cricket. The Gabba is space constrained on 3 sides - one by East Brisbane state school and Vulture and Stanley Streets on 2 other sides. The Stadium already overhangs both streets example here on the Stanley Street side a full tear down and rebuild would cripple both streets for a long period of time and both are commuter throughfares. even with the cross-river rail station opening opposite the stadium, it's still a nightmare both as a driver and as a stadium attender - its space constrained outside the stadium too, and when there is a full house (i went to the Lions v Carlton game that was sold out) it was a nightmare inside - long waits for food and drink. in contrast i was in Perth at Optus Stadum for the WWE in Feb where they had 55,000 and it didn't feel like it. lines for entry, food & drink and toilets were quick and efficient.

  5. @GBModerator @Sir Rols started this thread “Worst Olympic Venues - The Shame Gallery”. But as a moderator himself, he cannot stay on topic. That is all that is asked that posters stay on topic and discuss “Worst Olympic Venues” which are considered worthy to be in this category.

  6. Smh This from the person who started off this whole spam dump, complete with pics and diagrams - on multiple threads) on the benefits of cleansing ocean tides and the wonders of along Beach and Brisbane. @GBModerator, he really didn’t seem to learn from his posting restrictions. Back to the old spamming and derailing tactics. Any chance of restricting again?

  7. It's quite ironic of you knowing that you were the first to invoke the supposed superiority of the water quality of a sea/ocean by taking the example of LA. (be careful, you confused the "haha" smiley with the "confused" smiley in your reactions; it would be a shame if you realized it after having used up your quota for the day on this topic)

  8. Both completely off topic. Where are your shameful Olympic venues?

  9. Toronto should bid for the Olympics, not the CwG.
