  1. For starters, whoever the mayor of L.A. is in 2028 (whether Karen Bass wins or runs for reelection), they would not have been as involved in the Olympic process as Anne Hidalgo has been. After Macron, she's the second in-line of being there from the very beginning when Paris announced that they were going to bid for the 2024 Olympics. If anyone will get disgruntled over any L.A. Olympic criticism (aside from some board members here), it'll be the people who have been very close to this from day-one, like Casey Wasserman or if Eric Garcetti was still mayor (& who knows, even he might still have his two cents to say come the summer of 2028). As far as Anne's F-bombs, looks like she just reached a breaking point (as everybody does) when they've been so involved in something so big for so long (just look at all the controversy that was here). She had a knee-jerk reaction to all of the anti-"wokisme" (lol still can't get over that) critics when all they did was just spin negative hyperbole & fake "outrage".

  2. Have you noticed how absolutely everyone forgot about the very existence of Russia during the Olympics? Not only did no one complain about their absence, but I even have the impression that we completely forgot that this country existed (if we focus purely on sports news around the world of course). A great defeat for Putin.

  3. They've already waited 2.5 years. They shouldn't have to wait another 1.5 years. They got their medals at an Olympics, so that's a fitting gesture, IMO. I'd rather see this than for them to overshadow the 2026 competition.

  4. The Olympic rings will stay on the Eiffel tower. The IOC agreed. https://www.lequipe.fr/Jo-2024-paris/Tous-sports/Actualites/Anne-hidalgo-annonce-que-les-anneaux-olympiques-resteront-sur-la-tour-eiffel-a-la-fin-des-jeux-paralympiques/1504907
