  1. Anyone thinking the Brissy Games are going to be basking in beautiful weather is delusional. You may get sun - but it won't be overly warm. The mornings can get chilly - around 8-10 degrees until it warms up to a balmy 18-22. It's decent - but it's no Barcelona.

  2. Just received an email from Paris 2024 and yes, there will be a special exposition at the Monnaie de Paris, about the history of Olympic medals. From 27 March to 22 September.

  3. You yanks and your Fahrenheit! Sounds like Brisbane 2032 will be more or less in line with London 2012's temperatures, which were fine, and actually pretty decent for most athletes. We certainly didn't have anyone collapsing with heat stroke. It was the rain in the first few days that was the real bummer.

  4. That’s a good question. Ultimately, I don’t think it, or any other options, were seriously considered after Anna had her grand idea of the Gabba as a signing bonus (and the IOC needed some heavy re-assurance to accept that). It basically got lost in the sugar rush of securing the games and then starting to think bigger after the fact. Over on SSC, the convos about Albion seem to figure around guessing about transport, it being on a floodplain and zoning issues.

  5. Brisbane isn't exactly warm at that time of the year either - specially in the surrounding hinterland (it has snowed and regularly drops below zero in Toowoomba which will host Football preliminaries, same with Melbourne). Its the IOC's fault for holding a Summer Olympic Games in the middle of winter.
