And both have really brought on their support game. Bach's speech was short. The concept of extinguishing the flame was fun with the snowflakes. They should've ended with another performance or a medley of songs from one prominent artist. Very short but fun ceremony. A happy ending to 14 days of great competition. Korea knows how to put on a show! I hope to see Korea host another Olympic edition again Thank you Gangwon! It's not just the OCOG but politicians from the ruling party. And they hold the purse strings to the budget and permits. So, ultimately, it's the politicians. But who knows? Maybe the Italians think 3rd time's a charm?

Definitely, I remembered that I liked the beginning parts of Beijing 2022 opening ceremony to the middle such as the placecard holders forming the snowflake, but towards the end, it somewhat took a nosedive. It was a hit and miss opening ceremony for me. I wasn’t expecting 2022 opening to be like 2008 since Zhang Yimou said that only 3000 took part in it.

Yes, I agree the Gangwon Opening Ceremony was spot-on and the right length. Was just thinking ahead to the handover at the Closing Ceremony on 1 Feb and as I understand it, we don’t yet have a host for the 2028 Winter Youth Games.
