  2. I do agree with you there... it reminds me of one of those party bag medals you get form a 2 dollar store.

  3. It'll be a long time before Japan wants to host another Summer Olympics (unless the IOC wants to mitigate a lot more of the risk than we know they're willing to) and when that happens again, it'll be in Tokyo and nowhere else. The next Olympics in Japan IMO will almost certainly be in Sapporo. Whether or not that happens in 2030 remains to be seen. But they'll pursue a Winter Olympics before they entertain the notion of a Summer Olympics again

  4. I'm pretty sure that that is the plan. It is about leaving Eureka/Mars Stadium permanently larger and better equipped to stage larger scale events (sports, concerts, community festivals, pageants and displays). A study commissioned by the Andrews Government in 2018, managed by the Ballarat Council and conducted by Price, Waterhouse and Cooper made a number of recommendations which weren't publicly released but some snippets have leaked out over time. It is believed that the latest upgrades at the stadium (the entrance gates, the concreting of the hill, upgrades to the player change facilities etc.) were immediately prompted by the analysis of that study. The study also identified major long term objectives that included replacing the existing light towers and expansion of the stadium to hold 16,000. The Western Bulldogs were consulted as key stake holders in the study and they recommended that the stadium be expanded to 20,000 but agreed that it should not be a 20,000 capacity all-seater. It's believed that they agreed to a compromise of 15,000 seated and 5000 standing. This was reinforced earlier this year when the Ballarat Council released their priority project of advocacy to both State and Federal politicians ahead of the elections see pages 6 and 16 of the linked PDF docucument: https://www.ballarat.vic.gov.au/sites/default/files/2022-01/Priority Projects Advocacy Overview.pdf

  7. You’re entitled to your opinion. But this huge reform process that the IOC has started called New Norm is not going to be without pain like any big change process. Some don’t like change, but change is happening and is being reviewed and adjusted along the way, as it should be. The key moments and checkpoint along the way of this massive reform process have been: Olympic Agenda 2020 adopted in December 2014 a set of 40 detailed recommendations whose overarching goal was to safeguard the Olympic values and strengthen the role of sport in society 20+20 Recommendations Implementation Plan 2015 and beyond Implementation Plan 2016 and beyond Implementation Plan 2017 and beyond Midway Report - Olympic Agenda 2020 - September 2017 Half-Time Status: Olympic Agenda 2020 The New Norm: It’s a Games changer adopted in Februrary 2018 an ambitious set of 118 reforms that reimagines how the Olympic Games are delivered Olympic Agenda 2020+5 adopted in March 2021 consisting of 15 recommendations, it builds on the results of Olympic Agenda 2020 and act as the roadmap for the IOC and the Olympic Movement for the next five years. The title, Olympic Agenda 2020+5, has been chosen to reflect the fact that this new roadmap is the successor to Olympic Agenda 2020 and will determine the direction of the IOC and the Olympic Movement until 2025.
