  1. I am very glad for Brisbane, Queensland and Australia - a good place to host for 2032, but I am not a fan of the new bid process... For me it is somehow behind closed doors - you don't get much information why Brisbane was chosen, since there is no official bid book...

  2. 2028 was the original target when the process was underway. As a brisbaneite, I like the extra 4 years tbh. just gives a buffer and extra time is always good

  3. Yes, isn’t funny how you and your buddy both stayed away from this thread then chose the election of Brisbane 2032 to make a sudden appearance here to spew your vile negativity around like destructive flame throwers. You talk about getting out of the kitchen, where have you been most of this time since this thread started in 2018 ? Are you going to run away again for another 3 years, dump and run ?

  4. It makes perfect sense. You're kidding yourself otherwise. Brisbane will be an outstanding an Olympic city there is absolutely no doubt in my mind. However to deny the fact that John Coates is an A-grade bully who has orchestrated his hometown to be catapulted an Olympics to serve his own ego is not even discrete - its plainly obvious. This is more overt than JAS gilding the lily to secure Barcelona the 1992 Games. Like Barcelona, Brisbane will be tremendous - but imagine of this was Kazan or Doha or Guangzhou, the uproar would be huge.

  5. Lord how this place has withered on the vine. Tokyo and the IOC had the NBA bubble, the two NHL bubbles and the Champions league bubble to learn from. Yet because they refused to sacrifice the parade of nations and the athletes village they have f-cking cocked this **** right up. Like Lord Jesus, what in the goddamn hell were these nitwits thinking. Its not f-cking hard. All Judoka your bubble is here, all fencers - here. All gymnasts over there. Instead he have the countries together and MIXING for f-cksakes. Like really, you have Johnson committing another Holodomor agains the youth of the UK for the good of the old farts and now this **** WHAT THE F-CK PS Puppy I hope you're well.

  6. India, Istanbul, and Indonesia will politely be told no chance by the IOC (I don't see the IOC considering any bid from outside, the US, Korea, China, Russia, or Western Europe for the SOGs). The IOC wants safe hosts. This one is western Europe's to lose. Madrid or London or a Russian bid would be as close to locks as one could get.

  7. From the looks of it, Hungary, the Koreas, Istanbul and India are probably the best placed bids for 2036, geo-politically -- a dreadful lot, if you ask me. But Seoul-PyongChang will probably be the least awful of the group -- and 3 cycles would have already passed before it returns to Asia again. Indonesia should count itself out already for being in the same Oceania vicinity as 2032 will be.

  9. 15 hours before they're officially open, and it feels like we're watching Samuel L Jackson turn the breakers off in Jurassic Park. Hold onto your butts everybody!

  10. Seems like an overreaction to me. It’s not like they’ve canceled the ceremonies because of it. They could’ve just removed his name or announce who would be running the show instead or something.

  11. Probably because the ceremonies have fallen into disgrace now because of the Director anti-semitic remarks, so they want to avoid more damage to the reputation. Its a normal practice.

  12. Not defending what the director did but it seems this is just Cancel Culture in all its glory again, aka digging up as far as possible into someone's past to see how they can screw him/her up over. And the fact all of this is happening in such a short time is kinda showing the media is very, very antagonizing against both Japan and the Olympics.

  14. So that’s absolutely not true, it’s an urban myth. Anyone can enter and is open to everyone to join the Continuous Dialogue. And thatbthey all did: Doha, 2 x Koreas, Madrid, Toronto, Jakarta, Brisbane, St Petersberg, Rhine Rhur, Shanghai. But you need to tick all the boxes to get to the Targeted Dialogue phase. This can happen at any time under the new timeline. No-one was ever blind-sided with these changes. Sorry mate, that’s just nonsense that seems to be doing the rounds. When Change Happens, some will jump quickly as Brissie did, some won’t do anything and then complain later and some will stick their heads in the sand and pretend nothing happened. The new rules and the new timeline were announced to the whole bloody world in 2019 and in great detail. The IOC was in communicated the changes in detail to all each 2032 Bidder in 2019. Brisbane was there with all the other other Bidders. The new process was there for all to see. Guess what? Brisbane was first out of the blocks and immediately pivoted it’s whole energy focus to closely examine the new rules and start ticking all the new boxes a full two years ago agter having first started their Bid in 2015. The other Bidders I’m afraid were in some cases too little, too late and in other cases had major problems that are still holding them back. Look, these were big changes and the other Bidders won’t be slow next time . The world has now seen how it now works. It’s more open and transparent now thsn it’s ever been. Look at all the publicly released Brisbane Reports. Nothing was behind bloodclosed doors.

  15. Thats not the point - its the arbitrary nature in which the IOC 'chooses' which cities it will and will not engage with. In the past there was a clear cut separation between Applicant cities and Candidate cities. Thats all gone now. Rival bids were blind sided by the sudden decision to only engage with one city --- years ahead of schedule. I do not believe this will help the IOC's cause. They have said there were "too many losers" under the old process - but that doesn't change the fact that there can only be one "winner" in a race that is difficult to even enter.

  16. Salt Lake City might be the likely bid, but Lake Placid might want a shot at it. They're hosting the 2023 Winter Universiade.

  17. The answer is Change has just happened. Yes Change. Jakarta and all the other 2032 Bidders were assessed as not ticking all the new boxes at that moment in time. Doesn’t mean to say that they won’t in the future.

  18. For those who haven‘t seen this yet: Absolutely disgusting behaviour that seems perfectly in the IOC in 2021.

  19. Hope Brisbane don't go near the directors of Gold Coast 2018.

  20. I‘m close to tears seeing that people are so gullible swallowing IOC propaganda still. You know what really makes up most of the IOC vocabulary? Money, power, status.

  21. From now to 2032, Australia would’ve hosted the Women’s World Cup 2023, Rugby World Cup 2027, World Athletics Championship and the potential for other major international events in the lead in to Brisbane. Wouldn’t be surprised to see 2030 CWG in Australia either.

  22. Ask the IOC members not me. Also, can we just stop all this negativity around the process! The decision has been made and that is that. Brisbane will put on a terrific games I am sure.

  23. Is there any way to bring it to the attention of the people in charge at BOCOG (if it exists yet) and possibly try to make it the official logo? I don't know if it'd be possible to do that...

  24. We should also do a PuFF V. AusFan. They can duke it out with all their blather, which Olympic Games - LA28 or if BRB32 will be the next "savior" of the Olympic Movement. lol

  25. I am setting an example of a pernament mascot of any sporting organizations. If the IPC wants to have their own mascot, they can pick an anthropomorphic bulldog who is amputated and here is my reasons: 1. The Paralympics is about disability. 2. It originated from GB. 3. The bulldog is related to British culture.
