  1. If you actually read the arguments of opponents to Olympics, you will see that there actually is a lot of reason why they are opposed. Holding a grudge against the IOC is hardly among them.

  2. Seriously, what's wrong with those guys from #NoOlympicsAnywhere? Were they hate Olympic because they were not selected to participate, or anti-social? Whichever they commented are just so negative, and useless to improve the society. They can't suggest alternative.

  3. In a specialty forum you are chatting with people who have followed a topic passionately for 20-30-40 years or more. Some of us have been to multiple Games....some are academics experts in the field... Make sweeping statements at you peril!!

  6. A dream come true. The thought of the USA hosting a World Cup would have been laughable a decade earlier after the collapse of the North American Soccer League. FIFA was willing to take a chance on some virgin territory and it worked out quite well. The rule changes implemented after Italia 90 made for the most entertaining World Cup in several decades. I was able to attend one match, Saudi Arabia vs Morocco at Giants Stadium, probably the least regarded of the group stage matches and it was simply fantastic. I can't wait to do it again in 2026.

  9. Knowing that this game wouldn't be as symbolic as 1964's and the government intended economic benefits the public had been looking forward to Tokyo 2020 as a big sport event.Sad Tokyo, you were just unlucky. I don't think it's not the government's laziness that vaccination is very slow. Some are still reluctant to vaccination and many of them are concerned about reactions and effectiveness. Here's an article about Japan's vaccination. https://www.timeout.com/tokyo/news/heres-the-tentative-timeline-of-japans-covid-19-vaccination-programme-012021
