  1. I think you might be confused - this thread is about Fukushima - not the Spanish economy.

  5. I think it is possible that this race is still totally up for grabs. These bids have totally different strengths and weaknesses and the footing is surprisingly even. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it all came down to the lobbying and the final presentations. This isn't like 2016 where the die was cast much earlier on. My gut feeling is that the Spaniards are best at the politics, the Japanese are next best and the Turks are the weakest. But if the Turks have already won over some key allies, perhaps that will help them. I wish i knew what the buzz was like in the inner sanctum. I wish Dick

  8. To all intents and purposes Paris hosting would be like its first time. Almost nobody alive will remember its last Games very well. That's obviously not the case with LA. I know it's stating the obvious, but I think it's a major point.

  9. Not every host would follow this model if Madrid wins, it would however re-set the idea that the Olympic Games are unattainable for all but the biggest capitols, richest countries and questionable governments desperate and willing to fund any Olympics (at any cost) as the ultimate propaganda tool to try to influence the free world. ...regarding San Diego: Dude, I am not a one-dimensional entity that is beholden only to one idea just because I mention it. I like San Diego because it is so glorious an environment for the games, and I realized that a lot of people reading this site had no clue

  11. even more stupid. Why don't you explain to us all how as you say "An economic collapse could be just as detrimental as a radioactive one."?

  12. I don't see what's so wrong with Paul posting his thoughts. I don't know enough about the radiation leaks and its potential after-effects (those graphs and descriptions are too technical for me), but Paul's made clear why he has a problem with it. He's from southern California, and enjoying the ocean is a big part of their lifestyle and identity. I think Athensfan had that same concern. They have the right to be sensitive.

  15. I'm NOT touching those videos /\/\. 'Suki-yaki" to me is more radioactive than anything that comes out of Fukushima.

  17. That awkward moment when the Madrid delegation asks the consierge if they can pay with a combination of exhausted credit cards, cash and a roster of hotel dish washing duties. May the austere Games begin!

  20. Mitsuhei Murata Another Anti nuclear pro renewable energy agent fear mongering trying to smear the Tokyo2020 bid. It is very sad that you have to resort to shameless lies, smear campaigns and personal vendettas to harm your nations Olympic 2020 bid. Mitsuhei Murata is ONE person who has had a strong anti-nuclear stance for the last 50 years, I don't think his biased stance should be taken seriously when it comes to BALANCED opinion on nuclear energy or fukushima crisis... TOKYO 2020 bid does not deserve to be slandered with LIES,HYSTERIA and misleading nuclear scare stories from fukushi
