Looks like the EU as we know it will change dramatically now that the Euro crisis has exploded the relationship between the UK and the rest of Europe. Is it now inevitable that the UK leaves the EU to become a giant "Switzerland"?
My view on all of this is that its a shame that we can't agree with the "grand plan" for Europe that is shared by the majority of countries, but its not the end of the world for the UK. It will be interesting to see whether Europe sticks together as German demands for austerity are forced down the throats of the smaller countries. Can round pegs be made to fit into German square holes? Will democracy suffer as a Franco / German dominated Brussels legislate for the rest of Europe without any accountability? It will be interesting to see how all of this turns out, even if it is from the outside looking in.

First episode of X Factor 2011 went out tonight with the first batch of auditions. Tonight's top spot was easily taken by Janet Devlin of Northern Ireland who blew the competition away with her performance of Elton John's "My Song".
