The 2011 Universiade at Shenzhen, China, is going to start within an hour.
Shenzhen is a "magic" in China. Located at the Hong Kong - Mainland China boundary line, Shenzhen was nothing more than a collection of poor villages and paddyfield with less than 5,000 population in 1980. Benefited by the China's opening policy, this land rapidly attracted hugh investment from Hong Kong. In 1981 the Beijing government declared Shenzhen to be a Special Economic Zone, a region where all kind of economic reformations can be tested and examined.
In the past 30 years Shenzhen attracted people from all over China to chase their dream. Nowaday Shenzhen has become a megacity with a population of 10 Millions, one of the most wealthest city in China, and still one of the fast growing city in East Asia.
Tonight this very young and vibrant city will welcome the world's best university athletes.
