I'm in Tahoe now and was in Reno the last few days.
I can report the city looks great, the airport looks just like SLC before 2002, i love it here just as i love SLC.
This would be great games......have NO doubt.
Don't listen to the misinformation written here, this is a fantastic region and city for the games.
Denver will host one day, but will not be as intimate, personal and euphoric as Reno/Tahoe games.

Denver is fine, and a must visit if you want to ski that important portion of Rockies, but it's riddled with issues and challenges on a good day.
-The resorts are FAR from the city and transportation is a HUGE hurdle that is much bigger than any Olympics funding can fix.
-Denver is incredibly expensive to visit, hotel are always very expensive, games time would be a total rip off.
-It's NOT JUST the environmentalists who will oppose a games, but the majority of citizens. In my experience Denverites are NOT a friendly bunch (at lease all the transplants that have taken over in the last decade). These people think their sh*t doesn't stink whether they are green-wannabees or obnoxious yuppies transplanted from LA, these people are mean. Denver has become an oddly mean city, these people will NOT invite the world because they don't want anyone else to muck up what they THINK "they" have found. Once you live there it's hard to admit it's been mucked up for decades and you are the one that moved there and mucked it up.

If Denver bids, and if Denver won I'd be the first one wanting to go, but I'd be DREADING EVERY complicated detail the trip would be. From horrendous issues with flight delays and baggage to even more horrid traffic just to downtown. Then even having to imagine a trek up the hill is unimaginable. God I really LOVE to ski but this is the worse GREAT geography to get to in the West!
