I think he did a rather good job. Especially when you compare to his countrymen over at MaFIFA.
He steadied the ship after Samarach and cleaned the house, so to speak. He essentially addressed the problems of Juan's presidency, which is what the IOC needed.

Good point, although Rogge is Belgian and Blatter is Swiss, if that is indeed who you refer to...

Was Union Carbide India (a part of the Union Carbide Corporation when the Bohpal Disaster took place in 1984) not sold seperately in 1994, 7 years before Dow bought what remained of Union Carbide in 2001? Surely the responsibility of the Bohpal disaster would then fall with those that bought Union Carbide India (who operated the plant in 1984) in 1994, rather than Dow who bought Union Carbide Corporation minus Union Carbide India in 2001?
As the IOC's TOP Sponsors get priority treatment with regards advertising both on TV and around host cities (to quote Olympic.org: "Direct advertising and promotional opportunities, including preferential access to Olympic broadcast advertising"), it would only be appropriate that the appropriate TOP sponsor should sponsor the wrap if they wish to do so? It would be very silly to have the name of a rival to a TOP sponsor emblazoned across the Olympic Stadium during Games Time, surely? As mentioned before, any issue with the sponsor themselves should surely be taken up with the IOC, as it was they who negotiated the Worldwide Partnership in the first place, not LOCOG?

It won't happen. Not only could it be construed as government interference (as the idea was brought before the Argentine parliament rather than the NOC), but it would be in breach of Rule 50 of the Olympic Charter which states conditions regards to marketing and national uniforms - and more specifically, Rule 50.3 states "No kind of demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda is permitted in any Olympic sites, venues or other areas." Political games being played by politicians who have little understanding of the rules within the Olympic Movement, it's a shame that the press (notably it's reported largely by the right wing press, namely the xenophobic Daily Mail and to a lesser extent the Telegraph) even consider this newsworthy at this point.
