Sarkozy might just be the right person to lead a Paris 2024 Olympic bid. Like him or loathe him, he has a certain charisma and energy about him that could drive the process forward.
I think one of the reasons London pipped Paris to the post for 2012 was because a similar leader, Tony Blair was in power who was good at communicating with Olympic power-brokers and lobbying on London's behalf in contrast to Jacque Chirac's aloof rather disinterested persona which didn't engage well with the IOC in the way that Blair did. I can easily see Sarkozy being Paris 2024's 'Blair' who could swing it for the city if it decides to bid again.
Personally, I hope Paris goes for it and wins this time.

Just wait... I think that Merkel and Hollande will get alongwith each other much better than they admitted during the election campaign. And Hollande will most certainly not be able to realise all his election promises.
I agree. The leaders of France and Germany can never afford to be too far apart whoever they might be. Too much in Europe depends on there being a permanent consensus between them.

My all-time favourite Titanic movie is 'A Night To Remember' (1958). Even though the names of the real-life characters were changed in the film, it still has the most authentic feel for me of anything on screen relating to the ship.
