Well, obviously, if Salzburg or Sofia (or one of the other European bidders) win 2014, Harbin will have a much better chance for 2018 _ in fact, it would have a better chance than if it would have gone for 2014 because it will be 10 years since Beijing 2008 by then (and Korea may not be interested in a third attempt after losing twice).

But if PyeongChang wins, well, I think 2018 will definitely be in Europe then.

I understand your way of thinking in this _ of course you want the games in your home city as soon as possible!

I think either Salzburg or Sofia will win 2014.  Each race is its own race and how PyeongChang did in 2010 is meaningless and don't underestimate how the prospects of a winter games in China in 2018 will impact the 2014 race.

I don't think the USA will get involved in 2018.

With the big toxic spill that went to Harbin recently, I don't think Harbin will get the games anytime soon, especially since the the city's population is depending on well water now. It's too bad... I think that Harbin would have made an excellent choice.

Toxic spills can last decades if not cleaned up properly, which is why I don't think the IOC would want to host there anytime soon. Would you want to visit a place where the running water is toxic to humans?

Hey guys ! Now I'm in the city of Qinhuangdao for University. Long time no see !  

To be honest, I do hope Salzburg or Sofia could win the 2014 bid. Because as a Harbiner, I do hope Winter Olympics come to my hometown sooner.

But just guess if PyeongChang lost 2014, what chances do Harbin have in the 2018 bid ?

For the year 2014, I predict that the 2014 Winter Olympics will probably be held in PyeongChang, South Korea since PyeongChang were three votes shy of being the host of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. As for 2018, I think Europe will host the Winter Olympic Games if the United States does host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. I hope that Anchorage, Alaska puts forth a bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics. I would support Anchorage because I think that it would be interesting to see an Olympics held outside of the Continental United States of America. The only disadvantage Anchorage has is that it is too close to Vancouver which is hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics. The cities I predict that will put forth bids for the 2018 Winter Olympics are the running up cities for the 2014 Winter Olympics, Denver, Salt Lake City, and I would be surprise if a city in South America puts forth a bid.

For 2022 I think Christchurch could be an interesting place, or maybe Denver. :oh:

What have to do a toxic spill with the Olympics? Harbin will host before 2050, maybe in the 2030's-2040's. :oops:
