After reading other perople's discussions in terms of beliefs relating to what cities should host olympic games in the future, I thought I should share my predictions of what cities that have the most potential in hosting a SOG within the next few decades and based upon what cities I would like to see host most of all in terms of who would have realistic chances of doing so:

2016 Chicago, USA
2020 Budapest, HUN
2024 Tokyo, JPN
2028 Copenhagen, DEN
2032 Cape Town, RSA
2036 Prague, CZR
2040 Brisbane, Queensland, AUS
2044 New Delhi, IND
2048 Vancouver, CAN

I seriously doubt the Olympics would be on an every-other-cycle basis for the next few decades, & an even bigger doubt, to a virtually non-exsistence chance that 2 out of the 3 European turns on the list are gonna be in Eastern Europe. I think London getting 2012, only 8 years after Athens, was a mild fluke. The Olympics were on a every-3rd-cycle for Europe from 1980-2004.

And with some of the new-frontier places (like Rio, Buenos Aires, Istanbul, Cape Town, Bangkok) getting their act together in the next few decades (& not to mention the usual U.S. & Asia throw-in here & there) it seems the every 3rd cycle for Europe is most likely to take affect again.

And the U.S. only getting the Olympics once in 40 years is highly ridiculous. And I'm sure most would say that the next European Olympics are gonna be held in Paris. They have more than paid their dues.

I agree with FYI, Paris wouldn't be very happy with that list! I wonder if any Parisian in 1924 thought they'd have to wait this long to host a third Olympics.

Indeed I also agree with FYI, don't discount cities like Manila, from ever getting the chance to host in 20 or so years time, sure the city currently doesn't have the stadium or Olympic park to host, but it is undertaking infrastructure developments elsewhere, and once done or near completion, I'm sure the development of an Olympic size stadium and sports complex will be undertaken. (One should also note the South East Asian Games, which is given to the Philippines (which Manila is most certainly hosting in the next one when it's the country's turn again, other cities don't have the proper venues, and it seems silly to spend funding on building a new stadium elsewhere when the capital most certainly needs it)) Ok, enough ranting.

Oh, and don't list Vancouver, I doubt that they will get the next Canadian SOG, it's gonna be Toronto for that.

As for New Delhi? Don't push them too far back, they're hosting the 2010 Commonwealth Games you know, and are undertaking huge programs to develop better infrastructure and improving their sporting facilities, they'll be expecting to bid for 2016 or 2020 if all goes well.

Fair enough and no offense, Budapest, Copenhagen, Prague, Brisbane, ... and other tier II European cities... won't happen.

My guess:
2016 Chicago or Tokyo
2020 Tokyo or Chicago, or Paris if Paris jumps in.
2024 Tokyo or Chicago, or Paris if Paris jumps in here.
(3 games in 3 cities, sooner or later)
2028 Berlin, Rome, Madrid, Toronto or Melbourne
2032 Whoever above failed in 2028, or Cape Town, Rio, Doha, New Dehli (Africa or Mid East games)
2036 Osaka, Guangzhou, or Busan (Far East games)
2040 Europe if they failed in 2028 bids.
PS: just my "guess" :-)

Hmm, let me see. Maybe I will switch my future games list around. How is this arrangement compare it to my original list.

2016 Chicago
2020 Prague
2024 Auckland
2028 Istanbul
2032 Cape Town
2036 Rio De Janeiro
2040 Brisbane

2044 Berlin, Rome, Rio, Doha, New Delhi or Cairo

Lots of possibilities there.
Going foward to Toronto at the Pan American Games and Pyeong Chang Winter Olympic Games.

OK, here are my guesses, and you have to factor in where the last World Cup was played or will be held, because that will impact the choice of the next SOG:

Again, these are my prognostications...

2016 - possibly Chicago
(2018 - WC - either the UK or the US; we'll know by November)
2020 - a new frontier city: Cape Town over Rio because Rio would've been in roughly, sort of, kinda, more or less, approximately, FYI, is that vague enough for you? -- the same time zone as the last SOG, Chicago)

And that's as far as I'm willing to guess. It's absolutely foolhardy to guess anything after that.
