London 2012's Gymnastics and Basketball finals venue is coming along nicely. I found this today:

Link - Dome unofficial visit

Official site of 'The O2' (as it is now called)

lol - They are so naughty on that 28 days later forum, but they do a great job at getting all the inside construction information and pictures out to the everyday folk. ;)

It's great to see that laughable excuse of a millenium expense, finally getting the justification it needs to be there. It's going to be a great entertainment venue when it finally opens.

Not the Dome itself. They wanted to build a large building behind it for the so-called supercasino.

It lost to Manchester, thankfully. I'm not convinced the positives outweigh the negatives so am glad the first one is not in London.

Why such wastage on such a colossal scale? That place was- in every way - like a millennium firework - spectacular for a single second then *poof*
Rule, and rule well.

I think it's starting to find its natural role as a sports and entertainment venue, which was what it should have been turned into in the first place.

The Casino should be at BlackPool

I t would have been unsatisfactory for the legacy of the Dome to be a Casino.
I loved the the show in the middle of the Dome. And wish they could have kept the original
Hydraulic stage, but the ice rink shaped stadium they have created is probably more practical.

I forgot to mention I also think it unsatisfactory for the MIllennium Dome to be called the O2
