I'm sure it's that thing we've seen on the roof. The gas line is visible and they've already hid it away in that inflatable structure. I would say that no one but us (as in people on the internet, etc.) has really bothered to think much into that thing and how it will work. And the media wasn't all over it when it was in plain view (probably because they put it up before things really got going in Beijing). So I'd say it's still a pretty good-kept secret at this point and will probably remain so until the big moment.

I was just pointing out that if Atlanta and Sydney can keep their cauldron behind closed doors until the final moments surely a country which knows how to work the media can do also.
Atlanta's cauldron was actually put up in plain view all the way back on May 30th:

Besides Sydney and maybe Seoul, there really hasn't been any cauldron or something related to it that wasn't in plain sight beforehand. Sometimes, you just can't avoid it.

well~I heard about the engineering part of the cauldron has been involved with the Patent from China aerospace science industry. That's definitly beyond the common secrets

I don't know, but I have the feeling that we will something flying over the stadium - a dragon or a phoenix like in The Fellowship Of The Ring - and that the Chinese aerospace indusctry is involved it makes this a little bit more likely...

I don't think that will be a traditional, Chinese lamp - For one, it's not the same shape and they already had one in the handover ceremony in Athens.

Personally I think the fact that its plain means it can have things projected onto it. One moment it could be the Earth, the next the sun or moon, then a lantern then random images making it numerous things rather than just a globe.

If they really wanted to keep the cauldron under wraps, they should've assembled it in one night -- and immediately covered it up.

I think the fire will travel from the last bearer on the ground -- onto that tower inside the giant lantern / egg / globe. As the tower/lantern/egg/globe opens up, those 'little flies' will do their gyrations, etc., etc., -- and then the 2 that are flying above will carry then carry the flame to that contraption on the roof -- which will then flip and pull back into a position farther away from the inner rim.

I was right about there being an Earthen Warriors sequence -- I don't think I am going to be far off from the lighting sequence.

I also dont think that the construction on the roof is the Cauldron. The position of it alone is strange. It is not in the center of one of the diametric lines of the stadium. It isnt harmonic with the shape.

Perhaps they couldn't have placed it there because what's holding up all those wires and whatnot for the Ceremony would have been in the way:

It really isn't that big of a deal though. Barcelona and Atlanta had the same general position.

Regardless, I can't think of anything else but the cauldron that they would build on the roof, has a tube connected to it that runs down the side of the stadium (gas line?), and that they would later hide.

So I'll eat my tv's remote if that thing is not the cauldron.

Yes it seems to be the most logical idea. But still... The "tube connection" hasnt necessary to be a gas line. I think it is clear that this construction moves. So it could be a tube for wires! Or it is a gas line but only for a "fire spitting dragon head"... Ihave the feeling that this is nit the cauldron
